Chapter 57: A Global Love Confession

As an excellent corporate agent and assistant, Chen Sheng worked with remarkable efficiency. In less than half a day, he had uncovered the entire scheme: paparazzi had been arranged in advance, collaborating with marketing accounts to rapidly amplify the incident.

The female protagonist of the scandal was named Qiu Wanwan, an artist under Meitian Entertainment. So far, no connection between her and Lu Zhijin had been identified.

That afternoon, in the top-floor office of Meitian Entertainment’s headquarters.

Lu Zhijin sat sternly in the executive chair, casually flipping through the documents in his hand. The CEO of Meitian Entertainment stood trembling before the desk, a fine layer of sweat beading on his forehead. He swallowed nervously, choosing his words carefully.

“Young Master Lu, this matter truly has nothing to do with Meitian Entertainment. I knew nothing about it, I swear!”

“What about this Qiu Wanwan? She couldn’t possibly be unaware, could she?”

Lu Zhijin didn’t bother to look up, his tone lazy and his expression calm. But everyone knew: the calmer Young Master Lu appeared, the more serious the situation really was.

“I’ve already called her. She’ll be here shortly.”

No sooner had he spoken than the office door was knocked. A striking beauty appeared—her eyes lively, her chin sharply defined. Dressed in a low-cut, body-hugging minidress and strappy high heels, she walked in with an exaggerated sway, her silicone-enhanced chest jiggling slightly with each step. Her voice was deliberately high-pitched and saccharine.

“President Li, what’s this about?”

Then, as if noticing Lu Zhijin for the first time, she feigned surprise.

“Oh? Isn’t this the man who hurt me yesterday? How did he even find his way to the company?”

A drop of sweat trickled down President Li’s temple, his back turning cold. This woman was truly digging her own grave. Having managed countless artists and witnessed all sorts of schemes in the entertainment industry, he could read people’s intentions in the blink of an eye. It was obvious she was putting on an act!

“Wanwan, watch your words! This is Young Master Lu!”

“Young Master Lu?”

Qiu Wanwan puckered her lips and furrowed her brows, pretending to think hard in a cutesy manner. To Lu Zhijin, it came off as utterly foolish. He unconsciously tightened his brow, growing increasingly irritated.

“There’s no need for you to strain yourself acting, Miss Qiu. I will certainly get to the bottom of this.”

Chen Sheng, standing nearby, expressionlessly produced recordings from the paparazzi and marketing accounts. They admitted to being instructed by Qiu Wanwan, paid to escalate and spread the incident.

Qiu Wanwan batted her eyelashes, her face unchanged, still stubbornly denying everything.

“This is slander! I don’t know these people at all, and I don’t know any Young Master Lu. Why would I do such a thing? If I wanted to stir up gossip, there are plenty of popular male stars I could collaborate with!”

“Miss Qiu, persisting in your denial will not benefit you.”

Chen Sheng then laid out another stack of documents on the table—all evidence of Qiu Wanwan’s efforts over the past two years to gather information about Lu Zhijin’s schedule and movements. There were even surveillance images of her, heavily disguised, lurking near Lu Zhijin’s residential compound.

For two years, despite being a rising star herself, she had behaved like an obsessive stalker, peering into Lu Zhijin’s private life.

“That—that’s not me!”

Qiu Wanwan brazenly lied, stiffening her neck in refusal to admit anything.

The office door was knocked again. Several men in black suits, carrying briefcases and wearing stern expressions, entered. They stopped before Lu Zhijin and nodded in greeting.

“Young Master Lu.”

Watching the black-clad man enter, the president of Meitian Entertainment gaped in shock—it was actually the elite team from Shengtian Law Firm!

Shengtian was the most renowned and formidable law firm in the country. With seventeen years in practice, they had never lost a single case. This elite team was invincible; rumors said they could secure whatever sentence the client demanded.

It’s over! That was the only thought in President Li’s mind.

Chen Sheng handed the gathered documents to the legal team. The lead lawyer reviewed them and humbly inquired, “Young Master Lu, what sentence are you aiming for?”

Upon hearing this, President Li’s legs went weak, his face turning pale. Young Master Lu was not someone to be trifled with. Sure enough, he heard the other’s unruffled tone.

“I am not a lenient person. Those who provoke me must pay the price, or else everyone would dare trample over the Lu family.”

“Understood.”

“Young Master Lu, this was all Qiu Wanwan’s doing! It has nothing to do with me! I truly knew nothing about it!”

President Li anxiously explained, unwilling to let his life’s work be destroyed because of that woman, Qiu Wanwan.

Qiu Wanwan’s delicate face also paled as she finally grasped the severity of the situation. Her lips trembled as she stammered out an explanation.

“Young Master Lu, no, it’s not like that… please let me explain…”

Lu Zhijin leaned back in his chair, slowly lifting his eyelids with the authority of one in power, his entire presence exuding an intimidating aura without any display of anger.

“Miss Qiu, it’s too late. From the moment you set your sights on me, it was already too late.”

His voice, cold and haunting like a summons from the underworld, chilled Qiu Wanwan to the bone. Suddenly, she became hysterical, her expression twisted, bracing her hands on the table as she leaned forward.

“How could you treat me like this! I loved you so much! And you actually married someone else! How could you do this to me!”

“Ever since I saw you at that event, I couldn’t forget you. I worked hard to climb up just to be worthy of you. I even had plastic surgery to make you notice me. When I had no work, I would secretly watch you. But how could you treat me like this? How could you fall for someone else!”

Qiu Wanwan, like someone unhinged, grew more agitated as she spoke. Suddenly, she tore at her clothes, exposing her chest, which bore a tattoo of Lu Zhijin’s name.

“I loved you so much!”

Lu Zhijin lowered his eyes, his expression unchanged. Chen Sheng reacted swiftly, his face cold and detached as he grabbed Qiu Wanwan’s arm and threw her out.

“Young Master Lu, Young Master Lu, I really had no idea about any of this. Please, spare me.”

President Li, a man in his forties, now bowed humbly, his eyes filled with desperation and earnest plea.

“I am not an unreasonable man, President Li. There is no need for such dramatics, but I do have a task for you.”

Meitian Entertainment issued an official statement:

“Our company’s artist, Qiu Wanwan, has no acquaintance with Mr. Lu Zhijin. All online claims are false.”

Accompanying the statement was a new video—surveillance footage obtained from the restaurant the previous day. The footage showed a different angle, revealing that Lu Zhijin and Qiu Wanwan had emerged from separate private rooms. At the entrance, Qiu Wanwan repeatedly glanced over before suddenly approaching him, only to be restrained by Lu Zhijin with a swift maneuver.

The truth came to light, and all rumors collapsed. Chen Sheng purchased new marketing accounts to reverse the narrative, overturning previous claims. Subsequently, the video went viral across the internet.

In the frame, Lu Zhijin’s handsome face appeared, his narrow eyes gazing affectionately at the screen, his voice deep and pleasant.

“First, I want to apologize to everyone. I’m sorry that my personal matters have taken up public attention. Now that the truth has come to light, I hope everyone will refrain from spreading rumors.”

“Second, I do not know Ms. Qiu Wanwan, and I urge no one to target me in the future. Regarding all the misinformation spread by marketing accounts and individuals this time, I will take legal action, with Sheng Tian Law Firm fully representing me.”

“Lastly, I want to make it clear to everyone: the only person I have ever loved is Song Shimu. No one should attempt to come between our relationship.”

“Due to my own actions, this misunderstanding arose and caused my wife a great deal of distress. I want to apologize to her. Mu Mu, please forgive me. From now on, I will never let any other woman get close to me. And one more thing—”

“Song Shimu, I love you, and that will never change in this lifetime.”
