Chapter 44: President Lin of Oceanic Group

Lu Zhijin woke up early in the morning feeling refreshed and energized, like a lion that had eaten and drunk its fill. He contentedly put on the cufflinks Song Shimu had given him the previous night, finding them utterly satisfying no matter how he looked at them.

Song Shimu was still asleep, lying peacefully on the bed with a fluffy duvet covering her naked body, revealing only her smooth shoulders. Lu Zhijin’s eyes overflowed with affection as he gazed adoringly at his woman. Before leaving, he sat by the bedside, leaned down, and gently kissed Song Shimu’s forehead.

When Song Shimu went to work that day, she was suffering from back and body aches. She never expected a piece of lingerie could have such an effect. Last night, Lu Zhijin had been like a man possessed, tirelessly working the bed with unflagging energy. At his most excited moments, his eyes even turned crimson, his sexy, heavy breathing echoing in her ears and sending shivers throughout her body.

Colleagues at the kindergarten were bustling back and forth with excited expressions, which puzzled Song Shimu.

Is there some event today?

Teacher Song, don’t you know? Oceanic Group is establishing itself in Haishi, and President Lin is going to build a technology center for our kindergarten. He’s coming to inspect the school today.

Oceanic Group was a technology company listed in the United States that had developed well overseas. Many advanced domestic devices were invented by their company, though their headquarters had remained abroad until earlier this year when Oceanic Group suddenly announced they would be returning to China to develop.

Once the news broke, local governments everywhere eagerly extended olive branches, hoping to welcome this financial powerhouse. No one expected Oceanic Group would ultimately choose Haishi, though it wasn’t hard to understand since Haishi was the city with the best development and richest resources.

The kindergarten administration attached great importance to this event. The principal led the directors, all dressed in neat suits, standing at the entrance. Even the bureau chief had come, since establishing a relationship with Oceanic Group would ensure no future financial worries.

A luxurious black Rolls-Royce slowly pulled up to the entrance. The driver got out and opened the rear right door, from which emerged a young, handsome man wearing oversized sunglasses and flashing a brilliant smile that revealed eight sparkling white teeth.

The man wore a light blue floral shirt with knee-length shorts. The group of leaders stared in astonishment – he looked more like a tourist heading to the beach than a major executive coming for an inspection.

Anyang International Kindergarten.

The tall, long-legged man stood with hands on hips at the school entrance, looking up at the kindergarten’s signboard. His voice was lazy yet carried an extraordinary nobility within its casual tone.

President Lin? It is President Lin, right? Oh, welcome, welcome!

The bureau chief was the first to react, stepping forward with a beaming smile, his hand already extended before he even reached the man.

Lin Xun took off his sunglasses and reached out to shake hands. Director Li, you’re too kind.

No one had expected that the president of such a large company as Oceanic Group would be such a young man!

The principal enthusiastically showed Lin Xun around the campus, explaining the kindergarten’s layout.

As an ordinary teacher, Song Shimu had no opportunity to participate in such events. She was quite happy with this arrangement, relieved to avoid having to engage in hypocritical pleasantries and maintain fake smiles, which she found quite exhausting.

With numerous preparations needed for the new semester, Song Shimu had several books she needed to check at the library. As she passed through the teaching building, she caught the attention of the passing group. Lin Xun narrowed his eyes slightly, examining the tall woman with perfect curves, then turned to ask the principal.

Is she also a teacher at your kindergarten?

Exactly, don’t let Teacher Song’s youth fool you—she’s won numerous national awards and has such effective teaching methods that the children absolutely adore her.

Lin Xun nodded understandingly, a faint, ambiguous smile playing on his lips. His tone was light and breezy, characteristic of his usual nonchalant demeanor.

I’m funding the technology center for our kindergarten partly to give children in China an earlier start in science education, and partly because I have a genuine passion for education. I wonder if I might have the chance to attend one of Teacher Song’s classes?

Of course, absolutely! Rest assured, with your dedication, the future of our Chinese children is in good hands. Teacher Song is more than willing to contribute her part!

The principal, a master of flattery, promptly scheduled a public lecture on Song Shimu’s behalf.

Teacher Song!

Hearing her name, Song Shimu turned and saw the principal waving enthusiastically at her, followed by a group of people. Though inwardly reluctant, she maintained her professional composure and walked over with a polite smile.

This is Mr. Lin from Oceanic Group. He’s donated a Technology Building to us and is deeply passionate about educational causes.

Song Shimu nodded vaguely and glanced at the man beside her. He wore a meaningful smile, and she frowned slightly, finding him somewhat familiar. Searching her memory, it finally clicked—wasn’t this the man who had competed with her for the cufflinks last night? And he turned out to be the CEO of Oceanic Group?

Noticing her look of sudden recognition and surprise, Lin Xun curved his lips into a smile, his phoenix eyes crinkling as he gazed at her lazily.

Teacher Song remembers me now?

I didn’t expect the person I met last night to be you.

Was the recipient pleased with the cufflinks?

He liked them very much.

What a pity. I thought I might have gotten lucky.

The principal looked back and forth between the two, utterly baffled by their exchange. Mr. Lin and Teacher Song know each other?

We crossed paths yesterday.

What a coincidence! How serendipitous! The principal, for some reason, grew unusually excited and patted Song Shimu’s shoulder.

Perfect timing, Teacher Song. Mr. Lin would like to observe our teaching standards. Please prepare a public lecture.

…

Song Shimu felt a wave of exasperation but kept a stiff, artificial smile plastered on her face. Why did she have to come out at this exact moment? Still, she had to accept the task cheerfully.

Then, may I ask Teacher Song to continue showing me around the campus? Lin Xun added smoothly.

…

Song Shimu silently cursed inside.

As Lin Xun left, he still wore that infuriatingly smug smile. He extended his hand for a handshake.

Thank you for the tour today, Teacher Song. Take your time preparing the public lecture—no rush. Just let me know via WeChat when you’re ready.

Maybe it was her imagination, but Song Shimu felt as though Lin Xun gave her hand a slight squeeze during the handshake, and as he let go, his fingers seemed to deliberately brush against her palm.

She shook her head, dismissing the thought as ridiculous. Why would Lin Xun do something like that?

Late at night, in the study.

Song Shimu, wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, typed furiously at her keyboard. Lu Zhijin brought her a glass of milk and sat quietly beside her, watching her work.

Already so busy at the start of the semester?

Not exactly. I just happened to run into a CEO with a passion for education who wants to observe my public lecture. The construction of our Technology Building and the kindergarten’s future are at stake. If I don’t deliver, the principal will have my head.

Lu Zhijin looked with amusement at Song Shimu, who was radiating resentment, and raised his hand to gently knead her adorable earlobe.

Our Mu Mu is so capable, shouldering such important responsibilities.

Just bad luck—ran into work as soon as I stepped out. Song Shimu exuded the gloom of an overworked employee.

My wife is very capable, no need to worry.

Song Shimu clung to Lu Zhijin coquettishly, burying herself in his embrace while mumbling drowsily.

Suddenly having extra work dumped on me—I hate it so much.

Lu Zhijin held her close, his hand gently stroking her smooth curls. His gaze was lazy and content, his voice a seductive baritone that resonated above Song Shimu’s head.

Then why not quit? I can afford to take care of you.

That’s the sweetest love confession in the world.

I’m serious. Resign. You’re exhausted every day. From now on, just stay home waiting for me—be my precious canary.

Song Shimu chuckled softly against Lu Zhijin’s chest, lifted her head to kiss his lips, her beautiful eyes shimmering with tenderness.

Having you say that is enough. But I can’t be a woman who contributes nothing.

Though I am a woman, I am not weak. I won’t let you shelter me from storms alone—I will become a fortress standing firm beside you.
