Chapter 136: Zhai Moyu & Sun Jiayi (9)

Thank you, Dr. Sun.

A sunny-looking male college student emerged shyly from behind the curtain, his puppy-dog eyes sparkling as he sat on the chair gazing intently at Sun Jiayi.

No problem, you’re recovering well. Just pay attention to hygiene in daily life.

Okay, Dr. Sun. It’s noon now – let me treat you to a meal. The boy’s eyes held expectation.

Hospital regulations don’t allow doctors to eat with patients!

A sudden deep male voice startled the two people in the office. They hadn’t noticed when Zhai Moyu had appeared, but now he stood at the doorway with a dark expression, his eyes warning the young man.

Seeing Zhai Moyu approach aggressively, the boy instinctively stepped in front of Sun Jiayi, thinking the other man had come to cause a medical dispute.

Who are you?

The boy’s protective gesture angered Zhai Moyu, his sharp eyebrows furrowing tightly. Does my wife need your protection?!

I’m here to see my girlfriend! Zhai Moyu said fiercely, boldly declaring his claim.

The boy looked skeptical, still standing in front of Sun Jiayi. Dr. Sun said she doesn’t have a boyfriend.

Zhai Moyu’s eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Sun Jiayi’s indifferent face.

Alright, his wife was still angry. He needed to keep trying.

Sun Jiayi stood up and gently pulled the boy aside. Qin Zhe, he’s someone I know. The checkup is finished, you can go back now.

Zhai Moyu’s displeased expression shifted between the two of them. When he looked at the boy, it seemed like he wanted to dissect him.

He even knows his name! And her tone was so gentle! So infuriating! Can’t get mad at my wife, but I’ll put him in a sack and beat him up later to vent!

The boy hesitated as he observed the subtle atmosphere between the two, eventually nodding and leaving. The moment the boy was gone, Zhai Moyu immediately transformed into a wagging-tailed puppy, crowding close to Sun Jiayi.

Jiayi, who was that? Why does he have no sense of boundaries, meddling in other people’s business!

Mr. Zhai, don’t you think you’re the one with no sense of boundaries? We’ve already broken up.

I don’t agree!

Zhai Moyu fumed silently. I’ve already explained – it’s not what you think at all. I’ve long had no feelings for Wang Yiran. I fell for you at first sight, it has nothing to do with Wang Yiran!

Sun Jiayi turned her cold face away, looking at her computer and ignoring the man.

Sun Jiayi admitted she was somewhat timid and cowardly. Having been deceived before, she was afraid and didn’t dare to easily trust others’ words anymore.

Seeing Sun Jiayi remain silent, Zhai Moyu resembled a dejected large dog, leaning on the desk and looking pitifully at his wife.

Jiayi, I really didn’t lie to you. I love you so, so much. I absolutely won’t agree to break up.

Sun Jiayi’s icy heart felt like it was soaking in warm water. When frozen ice melts, there’s always pain first. She didn’t know whether to continue allowing the warm water’s embrace or to wrap herself in her hard defenses again.

These past few days, whenever he had free time from military duties, Zhai Moyu would come chasing after his wife.

Today, Sun Jiayi got off work early. After packing her things and picking up her bag, she walked out into the hospital lobby bustling with people.

Moyu—

A clear female voice made Sun Jiayi’s heart tremble. She instinctively looked up and saw Wang Yiran running happily toward the man at the entrance, hugging Zhai Moyu coquettishly with a happy smile gracing her lips.

Are you here to see me? How did you know I was at the hospital?

Before Zhai Moyu could respond, Wang Yiran caught sight of Sun Jiayi from the corner of her eye. With a hint of triumph in her gaze, she provocatively draped her arm over Zhai Moyu’s shoulder and rose on her toes to kiss him.

Sun Jiayi lacked the courage to watch any further. Turning away with a frosty expression, she walked off, her entire demeanor cold and detached as she shut out the bustling noise around her.

What madness is this, Wang Yiran!

Zhai Moyu frowned and pushed the woman off him, glaring with utter disgust at Wang Yiran’s sudden appearance. His tone was icy as he warned, Stay away from me!

Moyu, are you still angry with me?

Wang Yiran pouted, her fox eyes brimming with a pitiful tenderness. She remembered how Zhai Moyu had once been unable to resist this very look.

I only went abroad because I was upset with you at the time. Now that I’m back, can’t we start over?

Who wants to start over with you! I have a wife now, and I love her deeply. Don’t cause trouble! Zhai Moyu bristled with irritation. It was because of Wang Yiran that Jiayi was angry with him.

Don’t be mad at me, I know I was wrong. You only went after Sun Jiayi because she looks like me, didn’t you!

Stop flattering yourself. My wife is ten thousand times better than you. I adore her—what’s it to you!

I don’t believe you. You’re just still angry with me!

Unable to bear Zhai Moyu’s attention being on someone else, Wang Yiran began to act unreasonably, spreading her arms to cling to him and whine.

Zhai Moyu was utterly exasperated. Sun Jiayi would be off work soon, and if his wife saw this, he’d never be able to explain it clearly. He swiftly swung his arm to ward off the approaching Wang Yiran, but misjudged his strength and sent her tumbling to the ground.

Wang Yiran sat on the floor, stunned, staring at Zhai Moyu with tearful accusation. You would never have treated me like this before!

I’ve told you—people need to move forward. I’m with someone I love now. Why are you still making a scene? Zhai Moyu stood with his hands on his hips, glaring down at the woman on the ground, ignoring the curious stares around them.

Hmph, is that so?

Wang Yiran let out a cold laugh, her eyes filled with scorn. Sun Jiayi just saw us embracing, and she walked away coldly. She doesn’t love you at all.

What?!

Zhai Moyu felt as if struck by lightning. His eyes turned fierce and dangerous as he gritted his teeth and warned, Don’t let me see you again!

With that, he turned and sprinted off. Damn that Wang Yiran! His wife must have misunderstood again!

Zhai Moyu rushed anxiously to Sun Jiayi’s door, but no matter how hard he knocked, there was no response from inside.

His wife must be heartbroken. Zhai Moyu slapped his own face in frustration—it was all his fault for not handling things properly.

Sun Jiayi had been sitting on the sofa, knees drawn to her chest, listening to Zhai Moyu’s remorseful pleas outside the door. Yet her heart remained calm and unmoved. She found her past self, so easily swayed, utterly ridiculous.

The doorbell buzzed twice, followed by a click as the door swung open.

Sun Jiayi turned in disbelief to see Zhai Moyu standing in the doorway with a set of tools, explaining with an innocent expression.

I thought I shouldn’t let you go to bed angry. I need to clear things up, so I brought some lock-picking tools from the army.
