Chapter 116: Men and Women Working Together Makes the Job Lighter

The Back to Youth program team arrived at Anyang International Kindergarten several days in advance. They held a meeting with the person in charge and all the teachers, explaining precautions, encouraging everyone to relax, and inviting them to voice any requests they might have.

Afterward, cameras were installed, and they waited for the recording to begin.

Following the meeting, the principal called Song Shimu into her office. Closing the door, in the clean and tidy office, Principal Wang looked at Song Shimu with a warm, amiable smile, her expression full of kindness.

Teacher Song, what are your thoughts about having a program film at our school?

A slight surprise flickered in Song Shimu’s heart, but her face remained calm as she responded.

It’s a good opportunity for the school to promote itself through this platform. Do you have any thoughts on the matter, Principal?

I’m glad you see it that way.

Principal Wang was a woman nearing fifty, strong-willed her whole life and highly emotionally intelligent, always meticulous in her words and actions.

This promotional opportunity didn’t come easily. The school values it highly, and you, as a young teacher I hold in high regard, I’d like to assign you a small task.

As expected!

Song Shimu maintained a polite smile on her face. Whenever leaders started painting grand visions, it was always a prelude to assigning tasks.

The Back to Youth program team was filming at the kindergarten this time, with guests needing to experience a week in the life of a kindergarten teacher.

However, these celebrities, who often had high ambitions but limited skills and were accustomed to being waited on hand and foot, would need guidance from professionals to perform well on camera.

So when Principal Wang heard this from the program’s director, the first person she thought of was Song Shimu.

Young, beautiful, clever, and highly capable.

Principal Wang wasn’t an authoritarian leader either. Noticing Song Shimu’s somewhat hesitant expression, she understandingly reassured her.

Of course, this is just my personal opinion. I think you’re outstanding and can represent our school on screen, as well as work closely with the SOT group.

But if you find it too challenging, that’s alright. I can find someone else. Don’t feel pressured.

Song Shimu’s eyes widened abruptly. Upon hearing that the celebrities she would be guiding were from SOT, she swallowed her words of refusal. Her expression turned serious, her eyes filled with a passion for education.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity, Principal. As a young teacher, I should take on more responsibilities and showcase my abilities. I will prepare earnestly and work hard—please rest assured!

Hearing Song Shimu agree to the request, Principal Wang’s face lit up with relief as she looked at her employee with delight and satisfaction.

Wonderful! I have great confidence in you.

Returning to her classroom, Song Shimu announced the good news to the children in her class. A group of little ones clapped and squealed with excitement.

SOT enjoyed immense popularity nationwide, and their songs were hits played everywhere. Even children as young as these knew their names.

Song Shimu briefly explained some precautions to the children, essentially encouraging them to behave well.

The children patted their little chests confidently, declaring, Don’t worry, Teacher Song, we’ll make sure SOT falls in love with us!

When Lu Zhijin returned home and heard this unfortunate news, he was so angry his veins bulged. He considered contacting friends at the State Administration of Radio and Television to have them regulate the entertainment industry.

But he had no right to interfere in his wife’s affairs. The Back to Youth program team began recording as scheduled.

The show’s guests arrived at the school a day early to learn basic skills and get acquainted with the cooperating teachers.

There were five guests in total: besides the three members of the SOT group, there were two female guests—popular young actress Xu Weiwei and variety show regular Bai Jing.

Each guest was assigned a corresponding teacher, and Song Shimu was paired with Qu Xiao, the leader of the SOT group.

Mrs. Lu, what a pleasant surprise to see you again so soon.

The young man had an infectious smile, almond-shaped eyes sparkling like stars, and a relaxed curve at the corners of his lips.

Song Shimu hadn’t expected him to remember her. Suppressing her inner excitement, she maintained a calm expression.

Just call me Teacher Song here.

Li Youchen and Zhou Haoyang greeted her briefly. Those in the entertainment industry are skilled at reading situations, and the Lu family backing Song Shimu made everyone treat her with caution.

Noticing their interaction, Xu Weiwei curiously leaned over.

Do you know each other from before?

I was lucky enough to attend an SOT concert and got picked to sing on stage, Song Shimu explained voluntarily, without mentioning her identity.

Oh! I see.

Xu Weiwei nodded with a probing look, secretly sizing up Song Shimu.

Why did the production team hire such a beautiful female teacher? Isn’t she stealing my spotlight?!

The first day was just a simple run-through of the process. Early Monday morning, five handsome and pretty young celebrities stood at the entrance of Anyang International Kindergarten, warmly greeting every child arriving for school.

The children waved at them with a mix of excitement and shyness. Lu Yike, despite his young age, was especially charming and knew how to win people over.

Carrying his little yellow duck backpack, he toddled over eagerly. His milky, tender face beamed with an innocent smile, his grape-like eyes sparkling with joy, and his voice clear and bright.

Good morning, pretty brothers and sisters!

The five guests were utterly charmed, unable to help stealing a few more glances, their hearts warmed by the little doll before them.

During the first class, Song Shimu brought Qu Xiao to the classroom and introduced him to the children.

Every child sat up straight, completely unlike their usual lazy selves, staring intently at him. Even Qu Xiao, usually an outgoing young man, grew a bit shy under their gazes.

Qu Xiao was responsible for teaching them piano and singing. Seated at the piano bench, his slender fingers moved gracefully across the keys. With a soulful gaze and a striking profile, he played with deep emotion.

His fair fingers danced across the black and white keys, filling the classroom with lively musical notes.

Wow! So beautiful, so amazing!

The children clasped their hands, their faces full of admiration and enchantment.

Song Shimu curled her lips in disbelief. What’s so amazing about Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? These little flatterers! When I play the piano, I never get such praise!

Lunchtime, when they had to coax the children to eat, was truly the most explosive moment.

The three young men were fairly good—they weren’t overly fussy and fed the children earnestly.

Bai Jing was also very patient. Although she was known as a funny girl, she had climbed her way up step by step to get where she was today.

She took her work seriously, focusing when it was time to work and being entertaining when the situation called for it.

Only Xu Weiwei, despite her fame, lacked notable works. She relied solely on her looks to maintain her image. Not only was she untalented in acting, but she also had a short temper.

Seeing the children with rice grains all over their faces, she wrinkled her nose in disgust and stubbornly refused to lift a finger.

But children are simple-hearted. Seeing her standing there alone, the little girl kindly grabbed her hand to go eat, only to have Xu Weiwei angrily slap her hand away.

Don’t touch me! You’re filthy! Your hands are covered in oil!

Xu Weiwei frowned tightly, putting real force into the slap that instantly reddened the little girl’s hand. The child cried out in pain.

Hearing the commotion, Song Shimu quickly picked up the child to comfort her, his eyes showing heartache. When he looked at Xu Weiwei, his gaze held some reproach.

Miss Xu, Tingting was just worried you hadn’t eaten. She’s only four years old and hasn’t fully mastered using chopsticks yet. That’s why she needs us teachers to teach her.

Xu Weiwei’s delicate eyebrows remained tightly furrowed, her eyes filled with impatience. Her expression was sharp and her words were blunt.

That’s your job, not mine! I’m here to film a variety show – the money I make isn’t something you teachers can compare to!

She scanned the cafeteria packed with children, her eyes filled with extreme disgust.

These kids are so annoying! Keep them away from me during afternoon classes!

After saying this, she shot a glare at the little girl still crying in Song Shimu’s arms, crossed her arms, turned sharply and walked away, leaving the staff members exchanging helpless looks.

Song Shimu was filled with anger but couldn’t express it. For now, he could only focus on comforting the child in his arms.

Qu Xiao walked over. Tall and straight, with a sunny and handsome appearance, his eyes held a gentle smile as he picked up the little girl, speaking softly.

No more crying now, or you won’t be pretty anymore.

After comforting the little girl, Qu Xiao turned to look at Song Shimu.

I’m sorry, Teacher Song. Well—some people are just like that. I hope you won’t take it to heart.

Song Shimu nodded helplessly to show his understanding. In this restless society, especially in the fast-money entertainment industry, ability and character were becoming increasingly unimportant.
