Chapter 80: Thirty Years on One Side of the River…

***

“How did you end up falling asleep in the box?”

Eve helped Umi carry in a box of ingredients. Although she repeatedly declined, Umi still insisted that Eve accept them.

Somehow, Eve felt that Umi seemed much more cheerful than the last time they met.

Even her usually unkempt and messy hair had been meticulously groomed today.

Instead of her usual work-friendly clothes, she was wearing an unprecedented cute floral suspender dress, paired with white princess socks and round-toe leather shoes.

“I was just bored and resting my head on the box. But unexpectedly, I fell asleep without realizing it.”

“Maybe I was too heavy, and accidentally sank into the box… Thankfully nothing was crushed, or else mama would have killed me.”

Umi lowered her head sheepishly, seemingly blaming herself for being sleepy.

Actually, she didn’t want to be sleepy, but after reading those magic books Eve recommended, Umi, who originally knew nothing about studying magic, seemed to have suddenly had an epiphany.

The originally extremely difficult magic spells now seemed to gradually make sense to her.

So she, who used to get headaches just looking at magic books, could now stay up reading until dawn.

Because she hadn’t rested well last night, she accidentally fell asleep.

“Is it really okay for you to give us so much? I only recommended a few books to you after all.”

Eve looked at the diverse array of ingredients in the cardboard box, these things would definitely not be cheap at the market.

With this level of freshness, they would be completely suitable for the Royal Family.

“Please, Eve, you must accept them. I understand… not just anyone could recommend such helpful books to me. Eve must have researched carefully for me.”

Umi said while embarrassedly scratching her neck.

Originally she didn’t believe Eve could help her, but now it seems Eve was truly her benefactor.

After all, she was someone who could nurture outstanding graduates from the Church Academy…

“Besides, this wasn’t just my idea, my mama wanted me to bring these over. She saw my progress and has been wanting to find a chance to thank you.”

“It’s just a pity she’s too busy to come personally. Last night mama was muttering to herself for a long time.”

Umi’s words made Eve curious.

“What did she say?”

“I couldn’t hear clearly… but the general meaning seemed to be about giving the store to you.”

“Store?”

Eve felt quite puzzled.

“Anyway, making progress is a good thing. I told you that you had talent. There are no stupid children in this world, just some children who haven’t found the right method.”

“How about this, stay for dinner? With so many excellent ingredients, I should really show off my skills.”

…

“Young Dragon? What should we do next… that Leah is really not easy to deal with, she has the Empress backing her up.”

In the dormitory of the Church Academy, the dragon-pride protagonist was standing on the balcony, looking at the sunset in the distance and the graduates gradually walking out from the graduation ceremony venue with a worried expression.

He should have been among these graduates, and even been selected for the outstanding graduate list, receiving a substantial bonus.

Using this qualification and his own powerful personal charm, he would gradually work his way into the Royal Family, slowly becoming someone of status, and even have the chance to get close to the high and mighty Princess.

But now, he had become the most notorious figure in history.

The first student to be expelled from the Church Academy… the Church Academy had never expelled a student before, and as the first one, the dragon-pride protagonist would undoubtedly be nailed to history’s pillar of shame.

Perhaps no one would remember the second person to be expelled, but everyone would remember the dragon-pride protagonist who was expelled first.

At least from now on, everyone would have to consider this label he carried before dealing with him.

Like a stain, an indelible stain, forever fixed upon him…

“I know, I have my plans. Even if I can’t graduate from the Church Academy, it doesn’t matter. With my intelligence, I can still go into business.”

Since he couldn’t stay at the top…

Then he would give up on entering the Royal Family to become a decisive politician, and instead throw himself into business to establish his own commercial empire!

The dragon-pride protagonist believed that with his abilities, business would not be a problem at all.

This little setback meant nothing.

But business requires startup capital, and on this point, the dragon-pride protagonist had already made arrangements for himself.

He had long ago set his sights on a divorced mother, who would do anything for her child.

He had once boasted that with just 30 gold coins, he could get her child into the Imperial Academy or Church Academy to study magic.

That mother seemed to trust him completely and had been diligently saving money.

Now she should have saved up enough, it was time to start harvesting.

“I see, if it’s business, that could indeed work… but, could you please move out quickly? We need to clear out this dormitory today.”

The dragon-pride protagonist’s former lackey mercilessly threw out his luggage.

His originally somewhat respectful expression had lost patience from waiting too long.

“Hey, we used to call each other brothers, went through thick and thin together, you can’t be so heartless and deny our relationship, can you?”

The dragon-pride protagonist looked at his former lackey who used to follow him around, now ignoring him and even having a somewhat superior attitude.

This made him, who was used to being above others, very unhappy.

But the other party had no intention of paying attention to him, just heartlessly closed the dormitory door.

Leaving only the dragon-pride protagonist outside cursing loudly, saying strange things like “thirty years on one side of the river, thirty years on the other side, don’t look down on a poor young man” and making a racket like a circus opening.

“Disloyal fellows!”

The dragon-pride protagonist couldn’t help but clench his fists, looking at the thrown-out luggage, he felt a belly full of anger with nowhere to vent.

In any case, provoking the Empress this time was indeed unexpected.

It was also unexpected that Leah, who had always been weak and timid, would no longer be bullied and would actively fight back.

This variable had disrupted all of the dragon-pride protagonist’s plans, and even Vivian, whom he considered his most loyal follower, was ignoring him, and today had completely lost contact.

“Just wait, sooner or later, I will take back everything that belongs to me!”

The dragon-pride protagonist gritted his teeth!

Would he win?

He would win!

In any case, the path of business must be taken. No matter what… he still needed to get the startup capital from that mother first.

Whatever means necessary, whether deception or robbery, it didn’t matter!

However…

There was an even more important problem facing the dragon-pride protagonist right now, he had been expelled from the academy and lost his dormitory, where would he stay tonight?

A park bench?

And dinner wasn’t settled either, since all the money had gone to compensation.

He couldn’t possibly dig through garbage bins, could he?
