Chapter 66: Leah’s Self-Confidence
***
Eve felt like she was talking to a brick wall.
More like a stubborn young cow in heat…
To prevent the situation from escalating further, Eve decided to ignore Alice for now. After all, in her current state, even if Eve just said “hello,” she would naturally interpret it negatively.
Now that the empress had left, there was no one who could restrain Princess Alice, and Eve felt chills down her spine whenever she saw those secluded corridors and empty rooms.
She feared Alice might drag her into a dark room with lightning speed.
Fortunately, Alice remained well-behaved throughout and didn’t do anything too outrageous.
Eve couldn’t quite understand what Alice was planning.
At this time, the graduation ceremony officially began.
Though called a graduation ceremony, to Eve it looked more like a high society gathering.
Those elegantly dressed young nobles, surrounded by their parents and servants, had proud and confident smiles on their faces.
After all, graduating from the Church Academy, the empire’s finest institution, basically meant a smooth career path ahead.
If one’s family had some background, the lowest expectation would be following in their father’s footsteps to climb higher.
Some of the outstanding students even had the chance to enter the Royal Family and serve the imperial court.
For this graduation ceremony, the high-ranking officials from various imperial departments must have sent representatives, like a recruitment fair, looking for suitable candidates.
The vast venue made Eve feel somewhat out of place.
Having been confined in a small box for 2 years, she felt awkward facing such a lively scene.
Leah, hiding behind her, also timidly watched the bustling scene in the venue, feeling somewhat uncomfortable with such an environment.
But this wouldn’t do. Hiding behind Eve, how could anyone see her beautiful daughter who could stun the entire gathering?
“Those over there are your classmates, right? Go chat with them, don’t be shy.”
Eve gently held Leah’s hand, quietly encouraging her.
She understood that if Leah’s long-standing psychological knot wasn’t untied today, everything she had experienced at the Church Academy would likely become her nightmare.
Just like last night, it would haunt her in her dreams.
“Is little sister Leah afraid of strangers? Would you like me to take you over and say hello to my friends?”
Alice also noticed the embarrassment in Leah’s expression. After all, as future sisters and mother-daughter, this double buff stacked together made Alice feel that her relationship with Leah was twice as close as Eve.
“It’s okay, Leah can do it. Remember what I told you this morning? Go on, let them see who the real star is.”
“Do you see Qianzhi? Try going to greet Qianzhi first.”
Eve pointed to Qianzhi in the distance. As expected of the student council president, ice beauty, and young lady from a wealthy family, Qianzhi’s popularity was truly high.
Those who wanted to talk to her and curry favor formed layers of circles around her, making it impossible for anyone to get through.
But Qianzhi remained indifferent to the enthusiasm of those around her, not showing even a hint of extra expression.
“Mm!”
Leah still looked frightened by the crowd, but she looked down at the beautiful ceremonial dress she was wearing.
She thought she absolutely couldn’t let down her mother’s intentions, this ceremonial dress is very beautiful, mother said I’m beautiful too, I must be confident! Confident!
Leah took a deep breath, lifted the hem of her ceremonial dress, and slightly raised her small face, immediately displaying a noble grace like that of a swan.
Although Leah was somewhat frail, her delicate doll-like face, paired with the ceremonial dress that even the empress envied, immediately attracted many gazes with her noble and elegant bearing.
“Sister Qianzhi.”
A clear and melodious voice rang out from the crowd, this form of address made everyone surrounding Qianzhi pause in surprise.
Who was so bold? Actually daring to publicly address the young lady of the Lorraine family as… sister?
When Qianzhi heard this voice, her expression clearly froze, then her beautiful face showed several hints of a smile.
“Leah! Have things been resolved?”
Qianzhi lifted her skirt, revealing delicate feet in small high heels, bypassed everyone and quickly ran to Leah’s side, very intimately holding onto Leah’s arm.
“Yes, it’s been resolved. The empress also couldn’t stand those people bullying me, so she came to support me.”
Leah pursed her lips, she could feel countless burning gazes directed at her.
After all, so many people’s sweet words couldn’t make Miss Qianzhi smile, yet Leah’s simple “sister” could make Qianzhi show such intimate behavior.
How could this not make people jealous?
That was the young lady of the Lorraine family, being held by her arm was equivalent to holding onto a bright future.
“That’s wonderful, then Miss Eve…”
Qianzhi’s gaze was slightly evasive, she tried her best to appear casual and nonchalant when asking.
But her obvious blushing face and the accelerated heartbeat that both she and Leah could clearly feel betrayed her true thoughts.
She smiled when hearing Leah call her name not because of Leah, but because she knew that seeing Leah meant Miss Eve was nearby.
Qianzhi’s unconscious heartfelt smile essentially belonged to Eve.
“Mother is over there, chatting with the princess.”
Leah said, pointing in Eve’s direction.
Qianzhi immediately eagerly looked over, indeed seeing the beautiful face of Miss Eve whom she had been thinking about.
Though they had only been separated for about an hour, Qianzhi’s heart was somehow constantly thinking about Eve.
Perhaps because the people around were too noisy, approaching her with too much haste and utilitarian purposes.
In this chaotic world, only Miss Eve treated her with true sincerity.
Thinking of this, Qianzhi waved at Eve, then showed a smile that made everyone present gasp in surprise.
It was a smile with hints of girlish shyness and coquettishness, a simple expression that seemed to write all the thoughts of a girl in love.
“Who did Miss Qianzhi see that made her smile so happily?”
“Must be me…”
“Go cool off somewhere, she was smiling at that white-haired madam.”
“White hair? Where’s the white hair?”
“Who is that person? How come she is standing with the princess?”
“Not even wearing a ceremonial dress, but though dressed simply, quite sexy…”
“Quite good-looking, that face with coolness mixed with melancholy can rival the empress.”
“Sister! Want to do yuri? I’m in! Sister, can you give me your contact information?”
