Chapter 29: Come On, Let’s Go Home
***
“Is everything resolved?”
Qianzhi’s cheeks were slightly flushed, and she didn’t dare to look into Eve’s eyes, so she cleverly changed the subject.
She said there was nothing to wait for here, but actually, she was thinking about the lunch Eve would make. As it was almost lunchtime now, ever since tasting Eve’s breakfast, Qianzhi had been distracted all day.
Her mind was filled with thoughts of Eve’s exquisite culinary skills.
To be honest, if she thought about it carefully, she couldn’t figure out whether she liked Eve’s cooking skills or Eve herself…
Anyway, as she was approaching graduation, she didn’t have many classes to attend, and she didn’t care about student council matters, letting others handle them.
“It was resolved smoothly.”
Eve nodded.
“That’s great, congratulations Leah.”
Qianzhi showed a slight smile, which was the first time Eve and Leah had seen her express a different emotion since they met her.
It must be said that Qianzhi was indeed beautiful, fair and clean, like flawless jade.
Her smile was naturally devastating, no wonder she was chosen as the student council president. Such a beautiful young lady, even if she did nothing but smile, would probably increase the entire academy’s cohesion significantly.
If she were to hold your arm and show an unpracticed pouty expression with that cold yet pretty face, saying: “Sister, sister, please please…”
Probably no one could withstand such an attack, just thinking about it would make one’s health bar empty.
In short, Miss Qianzhi was truly adorable.
“It’s about lunchtime, let’s buy some ingredients on our way back and have lunch together. Miss Qianzhi, is there anything you don’t eat?”
“No…”
Hearing Eve mention lunch, Qianzhi’s heart started pounding uncontrollably.
If breakfast was this delicious, wouldn’t a proper meal like lunch be absolutely intoxicating?
Unfortunately, Eve couldn’t see through Qianzhi’s inner thoughts hidden beneath her cool exterior. If she could, she would definitely see the pink bubbles filling Qianzhi’s heart.
“Then I’ll freestyle it.”
“Mm.”
Qianzhi nodded, still being sparing with words, and Eve and Leah were already used to it.
On the way back, there happened to be a bustling commercial street where you could buy basically anything you wanted as long as you had enough money.
Too bad Eve didn’t have any money…
But fortunately, Qianzhi was thoughtful and insisted on paying. As a rich young lady, she didn’t mind spending on these trivial items, after all, she would get to enjoy Eve’s cooking, and she also had her own little agenda, being somewhat picky with food, it made sense to deliberately buy ingredients she liked.
Eve was also trying her best to help the young lady save money using her common sense.
Finally, thanks to Eve’s extremely high looks and persistent bargaining tactics, she secured a piece of good quality beef shank at the lowest price.
When checking out, the shop owner lady was crying with heartache, constantly lamenting to Eve:
“I’ve never sold at such a price in my life… sob. If it weren’t for seeing how cute you are, sister… Sister, you must come again next time. Just letting me look at you a few more times would make it worth the price.”
Then Eve also bought some ingredients that could be stored for a short time, like tomatoes, potatoes, and sausages.
Although it wasn’t difficult for Eve to instantly lower the temperature to below zero, she wasn’t a refrigerator after all and couldn’t maintain cooling 24 hours a day.
This world didn’t have the concept of refrigerators, so food storage had always been a big problem.
Finally, Qianzhi looked at the bill in her hand and the ingredients Eve was almost unable to carry, thinking how could so many items be so cheap?
For Lady Qianzhi, what difference was there between this and getting them for free?
On the way back, Eve carried the bags of ingredients with vigorous steps, while Leah seemed somewhat absent-minded.
Although Qianzhi was slow with emotions, after such a long time, she had noticed that Leah’s mood was clearly not right.
So she couldn’t help but start chatting with her.
“Is there something making you unhappy?”
Qianzhi’s words came out somewhat stiff, clearly showing she didn’t quite know how to start conversations with others.
If she was like this with the familiar Leah, wouldn’t she probably curl up in defensive position on the spot when meeting strangers?
“It’s nothing…”
“Didn’t get the outstanding graduate nomination?”
“I got it.”
Leah kept her head down, still appearing somewhat gloomy.
“But that’s something to be happy about. Why are you still unhappy?”
“Um… can I tell Sister Qianzhi?”
Leah slightly raised her gloomy face, looking at Qianzhi with pitiful eyes.
“Of course you can.”
Qianzhi instinctively pushed out her ample chest, trying hard to appear like a reliable young adult.
“I didn’t become the outstanding graduate representative.”
“Outstanding graduate representative?”
Qianzhi didn’t quite understand, but she seemed to have heard about this. The troublesome matter that the student council and church desperately tried to push onto her seemed to be related to this outstanding graduate representative position.
“Isn’t that kind of thing troublesome? It takes effort and energy.”
“I know… but Mama promised me that if I could become the outstanding graduate representative and give a speech on stage, she would come to my graduation ceremony. I don’t care about other things, I just hope Mama can come to my graduation ceremony.”
The naive Leah genuinely believed that the prerequisite for getting Eve to attend her graduation ceremony was becoming the outstanding graduate representative and giving a speech on stage.
Otherwise, it would mean she wasn’t excellent enough to earn Eve’s favor.
Everything she had experienced from childhood told her that if you couldn’t be the best, you wouldn’t get anyone’s attention, this was reality…
This thought naturally made Qianzhi laugh.
“I think she’ll come to your graduation ceremony no matter what.”
“Really…?”
“You haven’t asked her, right? Why don’t you try asking?”
Hearing Qianzhi’s words, Leah’s expression showed some hesitation. She really didn’t want to trouble Eve.
But she was also curious whether what Qianzhi said was true.
“Why does Sister Qianzhi think so?”
“It’s simple, because she’s your mother, and mothers love their children unconditionally.”
“Unconditionally?”
For Leah, the weight of these three words was beyond her own estimation.
Leah fell silent, repeatedly savoring Qianzhi’s words in her heart, and Qianzhi naturally ended this conversation.
She wasn’t a talkative person to begin with, and what she had said to Leah already equaled the amount she would normally speak in a week.
At the same time, she quietly made up her mind that the outstanding graduate representative position meant nothing to her, she might as well give it to Leah.
After all, judging by academic performance, Leah was more qualified for this position than herself.
However… would this upset her family?
Whatever, who cares.
Rather than worrying about this, it would be better to think about what delicious food Eve would make later.
Just as the three of them returned to the apartment, they saw the management office staff from this morning anxiously waiting at Eve’s door.
Seeing Eve return, her face immediately broke into a smile, and she hurriedly went to meet them.
“Miss Eve, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”
