Chapter 28: A Worthy Outstanding Graduate Representative
***
Looking at the extremely fawning principal before her, although Eve felt nothing but disdain in her heart, she couldn’t show it on her surface.
After all, they were still the principal of the Church Academy, and the contemptuous matters could wait until after Leah’s graduation.
When it came to matters of principle, Eve could still distinguish priorities.
To be honest, having such thoughts was a tragedy for Eve. Despite being the principal of the Church Academy, a leader responsible for training talents for the empire, they were secretly a fence-sitter who viewed people with colored glasses.
With such a personality, even if they wouldn’t step on the weak, they certainly wouldn’t extend a helping hand either.
Yet they clearly had the ability to protect the vulnerable, especially since these vulnerable people were their students…
However, Eve had no time to deal with these matters now, as she herself was in a precarious position.
The subtle atmosphere of this conversation reached its peak from the moment Eve produced Princess Alice’s letter of recommendation.
At this point, the principal seemed to have bent her waist almost 90 degrees, using every possible means to flatter Eve before her.
After all, anyone who could produce a princess’s letter of recommendation deserved immediate flattery, no questions asked.
“I really am… too negligent. Miss Eve, I apologize, I deeply apologize. Who would have thought Leah was such an outstanding student, yet somehow remained hidden in our Church Academy.”
“This is absolutely the biggest blunder since our Church Academy was established. There must be some misunderstanding here!”
“With Leah’s grades, forget about just graduating, even early graduation would be a piece of cake.”
“Our Church Academy should be proud to have such an excellent student as Leah.”
Listening to the principal’s excessive flattery, Eve’s heart couldn’t even ripple anymore. If you weren’t the principal, this ability to speak nonsense would truly be second to none.
“Principal, let’s discuss the main issue. Regarding Leah’s smooth graduation…”
Eve cleared her throat, and just this simple gesture made the previously talkative principal sit up straight like an elementary school student, smiling while waiting to hear Eve’s words.
“No problem, I’ll arrange it right away. Moreover, I believe Leah should be included in the outstanding graduate list, enjoying the policy of student loan exemption.”
Before Eve could speak, the principal took the initiative.
There were only a few spots for outstanding graduates, and truthfully, they were mostly reserved for young ladies and gentlemen from powerful families.
Someone truly capable like Leah would usually be prevented from being evaluated as an outstanding graduate for various reasons.
At this stage, the outstanding graduate list had already been confirmed two or three times, and making changes now would undoubtedly offend quite a few people.
But this wasn’t an issue for the principal. With this letter of recommendation, even if they had to give up their position as principal to Leah for two days, probably no one would dare say anything.
After all, this was the princess’s letter of recommendation! And its contents were filled with genuine sincerity…
“Can’t I be the outstanding graduate representative and give a speech on stage?”
Leah, who had been maintaining silence at the side, suddenly spoke up. Her voice was crisp, very distinct in the quiet room.
This caused Eve and the principal to unconsciously pause simultaneously and look toward Leah, who was sitting nervously in her chair.
Feeling their gazes, Leah instinctively lowered her head.
“As expected of Miss Eve’s daughter, such ambition. Ah, if only all our academy’s students were as eager to improve as Leah. This would truly be a great fortune for the empire.”
The principal knew Eve had connections to the empire, so when flattering, they basically rarely mentioned topics related to the Church.
“However…”
“However, there’s only one outstanding graduate representative position, and the candidate was decided several months ago.”
“Besides, one doesn’t need to be the representative to prove excellence, being included in the outstanding graduate list already proves ability.”
Translated, the principal’s words meant that the outstanding graduate representative position was higher-ranked, and even with this letter of recommendation, they couldn’t touch it.
“I see.”
Leah’s expression clearly showed some disappointment, which Eve keenly noticed, reaching out to gently pat her head.
“It’s okay, you’re already amazing.”
“Mm…”
Leah still seemed dispirited, and she didn’t speak again during Eve’s subsequent conversation with the principal, just sitting very obediently in her seat playing with her fingers.
“No problem, Miss Eve, I will definitely follow through with this matter.”
“Good, with the principal’s word, I can rest assured. Then we won’t disturb you any longer, we’ll take our leave.”
“Would you like me to arrange a carriage to send you both back?”
“No need, we live nearby, just one block away from here.”
Eve’s casual remark revealed much information to the principal’s eyes.
One block away from here, besides shops, there was only that luxury apartment building. That was one of the best locations in the entire imperial capital…
This Miss Eve was indeed extraordinary.
“Leah, let’s go.”
“Oh.”
Leah nodded, jumped down from her chair, and instinctively held Eve’s hand.
“You’re welcome to visit anytime, I won’t see you out.”
“It’s fine, Principal, please attend to your business.”
Eve and the principal exchanged a few polite words, and as the principal’s office door closed, Eve finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Facts proved that Princess Alice indeed had foresight and understood the current situation of the empire.
A medal and a letter of recommendation solved the problem perfectly.
If Eve had brought Leah here without anything, unless she set fire to this building, it would have been impossible to attract even the slightest attention from them.
Coming down from the fifth floor, just at the staircase corner, they saw Qianzhi standing there holding two drinks.
She still had that cold, fairy-like appearance from a painting, but upon seeing Eve, her eyes couldn’t help but light up.
“Sister Qianzhi.”
Leah, holding Eve’s hand, politely greeted.
“Mm, brought you juice.”
Qianzhi handed one of the drinks to Leah.
“I noticed Miss Eve didn’t seem to rest well last night, so I brought you a coffee.”
Qianzhi handed the warm coffee to Eve, the young girl’s fair fingers lightly gripping the coffee cup, beautiful like jade.
“Thank you. Were you specifically waiting for us?”
“No…”
Qianzhi turned her face away slightly, somewhat guilty.
“Just thought you’d be finishing about now, and since I didn’t have anything particular to do, thought we could walk back together.”
