The old man on the phone spoke slowly, his voice trembling, as if he was trying his best to control his fear. He didn’t directly say what the problem was at first, but instead asked with concern, “Miss, have you eaten?”

Qiu Ruishi only answered with a single syllable, continuing to wait silently for the old man’s next question.

“Well, what did you eat for dinner?”

“Just ordinary food.” Qiu Ruishi responded somewhat perfunctorily. She was touching her stomach, as if she had just remembered that she was hungry.

It was already past eight o’clock in the evening, well past the dinner time Qiu Ruishi had set for herself. But she couldn’t tell the old man that, so she just casually responded.

The old man didn’t mind. His attitude was so gentle, as if this sudden phone call was just to chat with Qiu Ruishi about family matters.

But Ye Wushuang could feel that Qiu Ruishi’s attitude towards this old man was different from her attitude towards other stewards, even her relatives. It was as if this old man played a very important role in Qiu Ruishi’s life.

But Ye Wushuang couldn’t ask. She could only listen quietly to their conversation.

“What did you eat for dinner?” The old man repeated his previous question. Qiu Ruishi chuckled, a hint of helplessness in her eyes, but more of it was tolerance.

“Elder, just say what you have to say.” Qiu Ruishi sighed, finally breaking the meaningless conversation herself.

There was a brief silence on the other end, and then the man called Elder could be heard sighing.

“I think I might not be able to protect you until I retire, Miss.”

Qiu Ruishi was suddenly agitated. She stood up from her seat, her gaze becoming sharp, as if the god of love had returned. But Ye Wushuang knew that this was actually Qiu Ruishi’s true appearance.

She had always concealed her sharpness, using a smile to hide her knife when facing everyone around her. But now, this Elder was very important to her, causing Qiu Ruishi to inadvertently reveal her true self.

Ye Wushuang took Qiu Ruishi’s hand. This was the only thing she could do to help Qiu Ruishi now.

Feeling Ye Wushuang’s thoughtfulness, Qiu Ruishi’s hand covered hers. Their hands intertwined naturally, their fingers interlocked. Her attitude softened, and she continued to ask, “What happened?”

The other side didn’t answer directly, but instead took a deep breath, as if he was calming himself down.

Even as an outsider, Ye Wushuang understood the seriousness of the situation after hearing this conversation. What had happened to an old man who had lived for at least half a century that would make him so emotional?

Ye Wushuang was both curious and afraid.

This matter definitely had something to do with Qiu Ruishi, which is why the other party had called at this inconvenient time.

“Tell me.” Qiu Ruishi also sat up straight. This Elder was the person she trusted most in the Qiu family, the one who had supported her all the way to where she was now. Hearing the Elder’s hesitation, Qiu Ruishi felt an unprecedented sense of crisis.

Finally, after a long pause, the Elder took a deep breath and finally said what he wanted to say.

“Miss, you’re missing one hundred million.”

Qiu Ruishi was stunned, but then she let out a sigh of relief.

“Is that all?”

“Miss, that’s one hundred million! And it disappeared out of thin air!” The Elder on the other end became even more agitated, as if he couldn’t understand how Qiu Ruishi could be so calm.

Even Qiu Ruishi, even with all her wealth, one hundred million was definitely not a small amount. The Elder was about to explode with anger, but Qiu Ruishi showed a relaxed smile.

“I thought it was something big. As long as you’re healthy, Elder, it’s not a big deal. Besides, I don’t think a number as large as one hundred million would suddenly disappear. Did you make a mistake when you counted it?” Qiu Ruishi relaxed. She leaned against Ye Wushuang, closing her eyes slightly, no longer in her defensive posture against a great enemy.

But the Elder on the other end was even more furious. Even though Qiu Ruishi didn’t care about the value of the money, he said, “Miss, don’t joke. That one hundred million is more important than my life. I’ve counted it countless times, but no matter how I count it, the number is wrong. That one hundred million just disappeared. It’s gone… gone…” In the end, the Elder’s spirit began to collapse. He cried, as if blaming himself for everything.

Qiu Ruishi realized the seriousness of the situation. She sat up slowly again and continued to ask, “Did you check through other channels?”

“I’ve tried everything. The bank, hackers, even the police and detectives. They all think I’m senile. But Miss, I know you’ll believe me. It really is missing the one hundred million!” The Elder became more and more anxious. This anxiety made him jump over the boundaries of age and become a crying child.

Qiu Ruishi could only comfort him, even though she was the one who should be most anxious.

The Qiu family’s finances were very complex. Any large sums of money had to be approved by a vote of the Qiu family members with status and authority. They couldn’t use the assets without authorization. Qiu Ruishi had unconditionally trusted Ye Wushuang and lent her one hundred million, which was a huge risk.

Just the loss of this one hundred million could pull Qiu Ruishi, the rightful heir, from the Qiu family’s throne.

Qiu Ruishi didn’t like these things, but she couldn’t just watch as the Qiu family’s financial power was taken over by the collateral branches. So, when her older sister, Qiu Jieyi, chose to become a police officer, Qiu Ruishi took over everything.

And now, there was a problem with the funds in Qiu Ruishi’s hands.

If anyone found out, the Qiu family would probably go crazy.

Her older sister’s miserable and destitute appearance reappeared in Qiu Ruishi’s mind. Her eyes dimmed for a moment, but they quickly became firm and decisive again.

“It’s okay, Elder. I’ll investigate this matter thoroughly. You should get some rest today.” Qiu Ruishi casually brushed over the topic, even though it was a very serious test for her.

The Elder on the other end seemed to want to continue helping Qiu Ruishi, but Qiu Ruishi still smiled and refused, until she coaxed the Elder into hanging up the phone.

After doing all this, she seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. She leaned against Ye Wushuang, exhausted.

Ye Wushuang patted her and felt Qiu Ruishi take a deep breath in her arms.

Ye Wushuang was startled. She thought Qiu Ruishi was crying in her arms. She asked cautiously, “Are you crying?”

She thought Qiu Ruishi would say something like “Shut up, you pig,” but Qiu Ruishi in her arms suddenly started to laugh.

“What kind of logic is that? Did I not teach you math well enough?” When she looked up, she still had bright eyes and a dazzling smile. She didn’t look sad at all.

“Then why are you breathing in my arms?” Ye Wushuang was a little embarrassed, but she still didn’t understand Qiu Ruishi’s actions. She felt that Qiu Ruishi couldn’t be smelling her scent while breathing in her arms.

“You’re such a little fool. I’m absorbing nutrients.” Qiu Ruishi laughed even harder, as if all her gloom had been forgotten by Ye Wushuang’s words.

“Nutrients? When did you learn this trick…” Ye Wushuang still naively thought it was a skill given to Qiu Ruishi by the Dating App, but Qiu Ruishi just kept staring at her. Her gaze made Ye Wushuang blush.

She suddenly realized that Qiu Ruishi’s so-called nutrients were her scent.

“You’re such a fool. Or do you prefer me to call you a pig?” Qiu Ruishi laughed even harder, falling into Ye Wushuang’s arms again. Her charming appearance made it impossible to look away.

Ye Wushuang’s face flushed even redder. She remembered that she had only said the word “pig” once, and now Qiu Ruishi had remembered it for months and said it at the most inappropriate time.

But as her gaze moved, she looked at Qiu Ruishi and couldn’t help but land on her lips.

Qiu Ruishi noticed. She put her arms around Ye Wushuang’s neck, her gaze becoming even more gentle.

“Okay.” She said softly. Ye Wushuang lowered her head, and their lips gently met.

And as their gentle encounter began, this gentleness was replaced by another emotion. Ye Wushuang poured all her strength into her lips. Qiu Ruishi hugged her tightly, and the two of them became one. Their bodies began to heat up, as if they were on fire, seeking more…

More and more closeness, more and more love…

More and more time, begging for time to stop.

But time was still so fair. Just when the two of them thought time could be paused like this, a sudden ringing sound rang out again.

This time, it wasn’t Qiu Ruishi’s phone, but Ye Wushuang’s.

“Wushuang, you little rascal, you’ve given me such a fright! You didn’t even call to say you weren’t coming home for dinner!” Ye Wushuang’s mother was on the phone, scolding her daughter for forgetting to let her know she wouldn’t be home.

Ye Wushuang finally remembered this. She apologized profusely and made a sorry gesture to Qiu Ruishi in front of her.

But Qiu Ruishi didn’t mind. She leisurely tidied her clothes, her unrestrained appearance as if she were acting out a dreamlike scene. Ye Wushuang watched intently, her breathing becoming a little rapid, but she still had to suppress her rising desire and answer her mother’s questions.

Time passed minute by minute. Ye Wushuang’s mother’s interrogation finally ended. Ye Wushuang breathed a sigh of relief and finally ended the call. Qiu Ruishi was already dressed and had become the beautiful girl favored by the gods again.

Ye Wushuang shook her head in disappointment, her hand waving her phone.

She thought, if she could rewind without spending money, she would definitely watch that scene over and over again for free.
