Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 80
Wu Yue was stunned by what she heard. “You said Cao Yuan’s mother ate both bitter greens and dandelion in the same vegetable ball?”
Cao Yuan and Mu Jing looked at her in confusion. Although they did not understand why she asked, they still nodded honestly. “We had some bitter greens left at home, but they were already wilting a bit, so we mixed them together into the same ball.”
Wu Yue clapped her hands in excitement. “Then I know why your mother had a stomachache.”
The two young females looked at Wu Yue in astonishment. Even the Wu had not been able to solve the issue.
Wu Yue looked at them. “Bitter greens and dandelion should not be eaten together. It might be fine for people with strong bodies, but for someone weaker, eating both at once can cause symptoms like what happened to Cao Yuan’s mother.”
Cao Yuan stood up, turning in anxious circles. Then she grabbed Wu Yue’s arm tightly, her face full of worry. “Yue, since you know the cause, is there a way to treat her? She is in a lot of pain.”
As she spoke, tears began to fall.
Wu Yue sighed. “I do not know much.”
She had only heard of this combination in some rural health programs. It was just a folk remedy, and she had no idea whether it would work.
But at this moment, Cao Yuan clung to her like she was a lifeline. “Even if it might not work, could you still try?”
Qing Cao nodded. “Yue, let’s go take a look. Cao Yuan is really pitiful.”
Wu Yue rolled her eyes hard in her heart. Cao Yuan is pitiful? What about me?
I was the one who got yelled at by Mu Jing’s mother!
In the end, Wu Yue brought the last bit of peppercorns she had and followed Cao Yuan to her family’s cave.
The middle-aged female who had yelled at Wu Yue earlier that day was now leaning tiredly against the wall. She held the hand of another female lying in a grass nest.
There was redness around her eyes, a sign she had been crying.
“Mother, Yue is here.”
Mu Jing stepped forward and whispered to the middle-aged woman.
The woman woke with a start and finally looked at the young girls in front of her. Her tired face showed deep apology as she looked at Wu Yue. “Little female, it was my fault today. I came to your house and caused trouble without getting the facts straight.”
She took a few steps forward and held Wu Yue’s hand. “I want to apologize. I hope this will not affect the bond among you girls. I still hope we can be good friends.”
Wu Yue supported the female elder and helped her sit in the grass nest. Her voice was soft. “I was not angry with them. I came to check on Cao Yuan’s mother.”
Mu Jing’s mother looked at her in surprise. “You know what happened to my sister?”
Wu Yue nodded. “Cao Yuan’s mother was not as strong to begin with, and bitter greens and dandelion should not be eaten together. For someone in weak health, it leads to symptoms like this.”
She tilted her thin chin toward the woman lying in the grass nest.
“I do have a method that can make her feel better, but I need some salt. Do not worry, I will return the salt to you afterward.”
Mu Jing’s mother was overjoyed and quickly instructed Mu Jing to go fetch salt.
A short while later, Mu Jing returned with several tall males. Leading them were two sturdy middle-aged men.
Each carried a pouch that looked heavy and full. Wu Yue recognized it immediately. Inside was coarse salt.
“Please start a fire. I need it.”
As soon as she spoke, a well-built young male stepped forward and quickly started the fire.
