Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 79
Wu Yue’s little face was dark with frustration.
Qing Cao, you serious little thing, did you just insult me with a straight face?
“Yue, are you home?” The two were still playfully arguing when Cao Yuan’s voice came from outside the door.
Wu Yue and Qing Cao exchanged glances. Their expressions were a bit odd, but they still went to open the door.
Cao Yuan’s eyes were slightly swollen, and Mu Jing stood behind her with a face full of guilt. The usually cheerful young female now looked deflated and pitiful.
Qing Cao glared at them both and snorted. “What do you want? You are not here to cause trouble for Yue again, are you?”
Cao Yuan’s eyes instantly turned red, and the guilt in Mu Jing’s eyes grew even heavier.
“We came to apologize to Yue.”
Cao Yuan pulled Mu Jing forward. “We just went to see the Wu. The Wu said there were no poisonous plants in the wild greens, so it must be my mother’s health that caused the problem.”
Mu Jing stepped up with a remorseful look toward Wu Yue. “Cao Yuan’s mother is my mother’s younger sister. That is why my mother got so anxious. She wanted to come and apologize to you herself, but Cao Yuan’s mother is not well, so she stayed behind to care for her.”
As she spoke, she took a piece of brown beast hide from behind her and handed it to Wu Yue. “Mother said you just arrived at the tribe and have no family, so you probably do not have any beast hides. This is one of our best. There are no holes in it. Mother asked me to give it to you. She hopes you will accept it.”
Wu Yue chuckled softly and took the beast hide from her hand. “I will accept the hide. We are good friends. As long as the misunderstanding is cleared up, everything is fine.”
She gestured for Qing Cao to make room by the door and looked at Cao Yuan and Mu Jing. “Come in and sit.”
Wu Yue’s house was not small. Since there were only a straw bed and a rattan sack of food, it looked spacious and tidy.
The two young females looked around with wide eyes, full of admiration.
Cao Yuan and Mu Jing were both simple-hearted girls. After chatting for a while inside, their relationship quickly warmed up again.
Wu Yue’s generosity once again won the two over. They liked being around her even more.
That afternoon, she had used leftover beast fat to make some wild vegetable cakes. Because they had been pan-fried, they carried a rich aroma of meat. The outside layer of wild greens was crispy and fragrant, making them incredibly delicious.
She brought out two and handed one to each of them. Cao Yuan and Mu Jing ate with oil dripping from their mouths.
Their eyes sparkled. “Yue, you are amazing! How did you make something this delicious?”
Wu Yue smiled and handed each of them another one. “It is very simple. Even Qing Cao has learned it. If you have time, bring a piece of fatty meat to my place, and I will teach you.”
The two nodded eagerly.
“Cao Yuan, how is your mother doing?”
Wu Yue looked at the chubby little female, who still had a bit of worry between her brows, even while talking and laughing.
Cao Yuan sighed. “Mother kept saying her stomach hurt after eating. But when we took her to the Wu, they could not find any medicinal herbs that could treat her. Even Wu power only helped relieve the pain a little.”
Mu Jing nodded. “Auntie looked like she was in a lot of pain.”
Wu Yue frowned. Could it be some kind of stomach illness?
This is truly troublesome. I do not understand herbs at all. I really cannot prescribe anything.
Should I pull out the classic useless advice? Drink more hot water?
“Auntie had two bitter green balls and the wild greens we traded from you, Yue. She also ate some meat. Then suddenly she said she felt unwell.”
Mu Jing frowned.
