Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 59
The chief shook his head and said, “Not exactly. But her mother was a apprentice of the Wu. When I learned she understood herbs, I sent some of our people to visit that small tribe.”
“The chief of that tribe said the female’s father and mother were both from outside the forest. They only knew her mother had been a Wu’s apprentice. The rest was unclear.”
“A Wu’s apprentice, then!” The Wu sighed, a trace of sorrow appearing between his brows.
His voice lowered. “Is our tribe truly going to vanish in this generation?”
Until now, not a single pure human in the Snow Tiger Tribe had shown any sign of Wu power. That meant their vast tribe did not have even one Wu’s apprentice. This was a terrifying thought.
“Wu, your life is still long. We still need your guidance.” The chief crouched down and looked up at the Wu with steady eyes.
The Wu stood and walked over to a stone wall carved with the abstract image of a white tiger. “A tribe’s future lies in awakened Wu’s apprentices and powerful beast warriors.”
He turned back and said with gravity, “You must understand. The Wild Lion Tribe, the Eagle Tribe, and the Black Wolf Tribe already have Wu’s apprentices. When they reach adulthood and awaken their powers, new Wus will be born, and their tribal legacy will continue. The four great tribes of the Jidi Forest have remained peaceful because our strengths are balanced. If one tribe gives birth to a second Wu, then that peace may not last.”
The chief remained silent. He understood this better than anyone, but pure humans with even the faintest sign of Wu power were extremely rare.
“At the next Grand Ritual, all unmatured pure humans must be tested.” The Wu’s voice carried firm resolve.
The chief was shocked. “Your Wu power…”
There were many unmatured pure humans in the tribe. Could the Wu’s body endure such a long and demanding ritual?
Gazing at the white tiger carved into the wall, the Wu murmured, “The Snow Tiger Tribe’s legacy must not end with me.”
These tribal secrets were naturally unknown to Wu Yue.
When she next opened her eyes, the sky was already beginning to brighten. Footsteps of tribe members walking back and forth could be heard on the ground, forming a natural alarm clock.
She put on her grass-woven clothes and ran her fingers through her messy hair. This hair really needs tidying. It’s such a nuisance.
She had tried tying it with grass rope, but it always fell apart quickly. In the end, she simply let it hang loose.
“Yue, are you up?” Qing Cao’s voice called from outside just after she finished tidying herself.
Wu Yue replied, “I’m up. Just a moment.”
“Sister, why doesn’t Yue like going around with her bottom bare? Isn’t it hot wearing dry grass?”
“Yue’s body is weaker than ours. Maybe she’s afraid of the cold.”
Wu Yue muttered to herself, Seriously? Could you talk about bare bottoms a bit more quietly?
Running around bottomless and flashing everyone while gathering… As a modern soul, I just cannot handle this.
She wiped her face. This shameless society… it’s exhausting.
The three of them walked to the clearing. Wu Yue then parted ways with the other two.
Her eyes immediately found the bold and imposing Hua Shu. Many females stood beside her, occasionally laughing and chatting in low voices.
As if she had seen her, Hua Shu waved with energy. “Yue, over here.”
Her voice was loud enough that everyone in the clearing heard it.
