Wu Yue also felt a little awkward. Who could have guessed that boiling dried bitter greens would result in a sticky paste instead of soup? Even she had no appetite just looking at it.

“Well, it might not look great, but it actually tastes pretty good.”

She was not lying. It really did taste nice. She had traded the last bit of fresh bitter greens with other tribe members to get some fruits and had added them to the bitter greens paste.

To her surprise, the paste had a faint sweetness that mixed well with the fragrance of the bitter greens.

She scooped a spoonful and handed it to Qing Hua. “Sister Qing Hua, try it.”

Qing Hua’s eyes were filled with refusal, but when she saw the hope in Wu Yue’s gaze, she could not bring herself to reject her. Her hand stretched out stiffly and, under Qing Cao’s admiring look, she took the spoon.

She gritted her teeth, lowered her head, and touched the tip of her tongue to the paste.

Wu Yue said nothing.

Even though I know this sounds terrible, why does it feel like I’m forcing Qing Hua to eat dung?

“How does it taste?” Wu Yue asked, her tone filled with anticipation.

Qing Hua was slightly shocked by how not-bad it tasted. She handed the spoon to her younger sister. “Qing Cao, try it. It actually tastes pretty good.”

In the end, while Qing Hua and Qing Cao still looked somewhat unconvinced, Wu Yue walked toward the dining ground with no expression on her face, carrying her rough little stone pot.

Yuan Lang and his two companions were staring at a chunk of bloody raw meat in front of them, their faces stiff.

Eating raw meat once in a while was manageable. But eating it every single day? Who could stand that?

More importantly, they wanted something other than just meat. Feeling annoyed at the sight of meat might sound luxurious, but they could not help it.

“Warrior Yuan Lang.”

A slightly hoarse female voice sounded in front of them. Yuan Lang set down the wooden stick in his hand and looked up.

Three females from the tribe stood there. One of them had been the same one who had asked for help catching fish earlier that day.

When they saw Wu Yue, the eyes of all three men lit up. Had she really come to bring them fish soup?

Seeing their eyes focused on the stone pot she held, Wu Yue stepped forward and placed it in front of Yuan Lang.

“Warrior Yuan Lang, I originally planned to make fish soup for you. But I heard from the tribe that grass carp are poisonous and cannot be eaten, so I cooked a wild greens paste instead.”

As she spoke, she lifted the large leaf that had been covering the pot.

Yuan Lang’s gaze paused. He studied the little female in front of him, thinking hard.

After a while, he confirmed that the original host had not known this little female. Was she a new admirer?

He replied in a slightly cold voice, “Alright.”

He did not want to give the little female false hope. But he truly wanted to try that pot of wild greens paste.

Wu Yue took out three stone bowls she had borrowed and filled each one. She handed them to the men. Her face looked a bit awkward. “It might not look good, but it actually tastes pretty nice.”

Teng Qian and Teng Kun leaned forward to look into the pot at the green, gooey substance. Their eyes practically turned green themselves.

“This is really made from wild greens?”

Wu Yue nodded. “I boiled it using dried bitter greens. I had wanted to make soup, but it turned into a paste instead.”

Yuan Lang brought the bowl to his lips and took a small sip. He was surprised by its mild sweetness. Though it was called bitter greens paste, it had no bitterness. He gave a satisfied nod. “Not bad.”

As soon as Teng Qian and Teng Kun heard that, they lifted their bowls and poured it into their mouths. If the general said it tasted good, it definitely was not a cooking disaster.

They devoured the bitter greens paste while the slab of raw meat in front of them remained untouched. Qing Hua and Qing Cao watched them and swallowed hard.

Suddenly, they began to question their entire understanding of life.

Had beast warriors started to like wild greens now?
