“My male partner can only have me as his mate. I will also only ever have one mate.”

Her voice was steady and full of gravity, which clearly startled the two females inside the house.

Qing Hua, ever blunt and outspoken, immediately frowned.

“Yue, strong beast warriors will never settle for only one mate.”

Powerful warriors were entitled to have more and better. That was the rule across the entire continent.

Wu Yue nodded.

“I am not forcing him. If he cannot have only me as his mate, then I do not want him either.”

The two women stared at her in shock. Was Yue trying to throw her future away?

Wu Yue realized the gap in their thinking. She decided to steer the conversation elsewhere.

“Then what kind of food should I prepare for Warrior Yuan Lang?”

Qing Cao and Qing Hua glanced around Wu Yue’s home. On a shelf in the corner, they saw nothing except what looked like spoiled bitter greens.

Qing Cao gave her a disapproving glance.

“Yue, if you cannot finish the bitter greens, you should give them to the elders and children in the tribe who rarely get enough to eat. Why let them spoil here?”

Qing Hua’s gaze grew complicated. She looked at the bitter greens with regret. Her lips parted, as if she were about to say something, but in the end she remained silent.

Still, Wu Yue could read the disappointment in their expressions. Was that disappointment aimed at her?

She found it both amusing and exasperating.

Walking over to the corner, she grabbed a handful of dried bitter greens and handed them to the two women with a smile.

“These are not spoiled bitter greens. Take a closer look. These are dried bitter greens I made myself.”

Qing Hua and Qing Cao blinked, then reached out and awkwardly accepted the bundle, sniffing it.

“Hmm?”

There really was no sign of spoilage.

“But Yue, these bitter greens are dried up. Can you still eat them?”

Wu Yue gave a mysterious smile.

“Of course. I’ll use these dried bitter greens to cook something for Warrior Yuan Lang. What do you think?”

Qing Hua reached out and tapped her forehead.

“Forget it. Beast warriors hate eating wild greens. My mother gave me a piece of meat today. I’ll bring it over to you later.”

Wu Yue knew how rare a chance they had to eat meat. There was no way she could accept it.

Wu Yue paused, blinking.

She imagined Ye Duo’s muscular, Barbie-like physique next to the tall, handsome Yuan Lang.

She fell silent.

I feel like I’m letting down my language teacher. I can’t even find the right words to describe what I’m picturing.

She shivered and said offhandedly,

“Who cares? Maybe Warrior Yuan Lang likes females like Ye Duo.”

Qing Cao snorted.

“Of course he does. Ye Duo is the most popular female among the males in the tribe.”
