Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 41
“Captain, Uncle Da Shi is injured.” The beastman’s shout drew everyone’s attention.
Just moments ago, the middle-aged beastman had fought fiercely without a hint of weakness. Now, his face was deathly pale as he leaned against a tree. On his thigh was a wound the length of a beastman’s palm. Bright red blood continued to gush from the gash.
It slowly soaked into the ground beneath him.
The surrounding tribesmen looked heartbroken. With such a serious wound, even if a Wu were present, it could not be healed without a beast core.
Beast core.
The thought made the middle-aged handsome beastman react immediately. He partially transformed and used his sharp claws to tear open the skulls of several sabertooth boars one after another. But to his disappointment, there were no beast cores.
Da Shi’s consciousness was already fading. He had lost too much blood.
Yuan Lang walked over holding a vine. He crouched beside Da Shi and tightly wrapped the vine around his thigh above the wound.
The others watched Yuan Lang in confusion. They did not understand why he was doing this.
“The bleeding is slowing.” The beastman’s voice trembled.
The surrounding tribesmen turned to look at Da Shi’s wound. Sure enough, the blood that had been gushing in thick streams was now flowing more slowly.
Yuan Lang stood and turned to the original body’s father who was standing nearby.
“Did you bring any herbs when you came?”
The middle-aged handsome beastman shook his head.
“We didn’t bring any.”
Yuan Lang frowned. Warriors who fought on battlefields usually knew a few simple herbs for treating injuries. But the herbs in this world were completely different from those he knew. Not a single one looked familiar, and he dared not pick them at random.
“Didn’t that boy Shi Lin have some herbs?” A hoarse voice sounded nearby. It was the beastman uncle who had come with the middle-aged handsome beastman.
The beastman’s eyes lit up instantly.
“That’s right. A few days ago, I heard Shi Lin say he traded for some herbs from a little female in the tribe. He said they worked really well for treating wounds.”
“The smell of blood is too strong here. Let’s carry Da Shi to regroup with the others.”
Although moving someone with such a serious wound was not ideal, it was still better than staying here and risking death.
Back at the waiting site, Shi Lin and the others became alert the moment they heard disordered footsteps. They raised their stone spears in readiness.
When the familiar scent reached their noses, excitement spread among them.
“It’s our tribesmen. They’re back.”
“There’s the smell of blood.”
“Is someone hurt?”
Hearing that, Shi Lin immediately took the beast hide pouch from his chest and held it in his arms.
Yuan Lang appeared at the edge of the clearing carrying the middle-aged beastman on his back. The crowd gasped.
“It’s Da Shi!”
Shi Lin’s face turned pale. He rushed forward and helped lower the unconscious Da Shi.
“Father! Father!”
His voice trembled with urgency. He even forgot the beast hide pouch in his hands, and it fell to the ground by his feet.
The middle-aged handsome beastman came over and patted his shoulder.
“Shi Lin, your father is still alive, but the wound is serious. He needs medicine. Where are the herbs you brought?”
Shi Lin looked down immediately. He saw blood slowly oozing from his father’s thigh wound.
He quickly picked up the beast hide pouch.
“The herbs are all in here. I ground them into powder just like the little female said. I only need to sprinkle them directly onto the wound.”
As he spoke, he carefully unwrapped the beast hide pouch. Finally, the gathered beastmen saw the herbs Shi Lin had guarded so carefully throughout the journey.
