- Chapter 209 - Will You Die If You Don’t Stir Up Trouble?
The Black Wolf Chief looked nervously at the Wu across from him. Inside, he felt completely defeated.
“Well, the thing is, they would not let me in. I could not just charge in there, could I? What if something went wrong with the tribe members inside? They would blame it on me.”
The Black Wolf Wu let out a cold laugh. “You really are a fool. If you could not go in, could you not at least stand at the door and look in?”
As he said this, he rapped his knuckles on the chief’s large forehead. “If I called you a pig beastman, you would still deny it.”
At those words, the Black Wolf Chief’s eyes widened. In the next moment, he transformed into his beast form.
“Awooo! I am a true-blooded black wolf!”
The Black Wolf Wu remained silent.
I swear, my Wu power is about to explode right out of me.
Despite his age, the Wu was nimble. With clenched teeth, he sprang up from the straw bed, grabbed the chief by the hind leg, and gave him a thorough beating.
The Black Wolf Chief’s pitiful howls echoed through the hut and did not fade for a long time.
The next morning at dawn, Wu Yue, Yuan Qi, and the others had already packed their things and were prepared to depart.
To their surprise, just as they reached the tribe’s entrance, they saw the Black Wolf Chief, Lang Ya, and a few warriors from the Black Wolf Tribe already waiting there.
Still, there was something odd.
“Chief, did you run into some feral beast during the hunt yesterday? That injury looks pretty serious.”
Yuan Qi spoke with gleeful mockery.
The breath the Black Wolf Chief had just taken in got stuck in his throat and would not go down.
Tiger brat, will you die if you don’t stir up trouble?
His slightly swollen eyelid twitched hard before he turned to Wu Yue.
“Little female, the Wu said you are going to search for herbs for our tribe members. He told me to send a few warriors to protect you.”
Then he glanced at Lang Ya standing beside him.
“You are familiar with Lang Ya, so let him go with you this time.”
Wu Yue did not refuse. The journey was long, and no one knew what kind of dangers they might encounter. More fighting strength was always welcome.
She accepted the offer with a smile.
The group did not waste time. This concerned the lives of beastmen. After saying farewell to the Snow Tiger Tribe warriors who stayed behind and to the Black Wolf Chief, they set off toward their destination.
Yet the moment Wu Yue and Yuan Qi were gone, the Black Wolf Chief suddenly felt this was his chance.
On the way back to his own straw hut, he took a sharp turn, veering off his usual path. His goal was obvious. He was heading straight for the straw hut where the half-beastmen warriors were being treated.
He crept along quietly. Up ahead, the Snow Tiger warriors were busy brewing medicinal soup and appeared fully focused.
The Black Wolf Chief let out two sneaky snickers and tiptoed to the entrance of the hut. He reached out to lift the curtain and slip inside.
“Chief of the Black Wolf Tribe, is there something you need?”
The curtain lifted from within, and a large head emerged.
The beastman had a giant grass leaf covering his mouth, giving him a strange appearance.
Only his big eyes were visible, blinking curiously at the Black Wolf Chief, who now looked thoroughly embarrassed.
Caught in the act, the Black Wolf Chief let out two dry chuckles.
“You all looked very busy, so I thought I would come over and check on the injured tribe members.”
As he spoke, he craned his neck to peek through the narrow gap in the curtain.
“Can I go in and take a look today?”
The Snow Tiger warrior shook his head.
“Before leaving, Yue and Captain Yuan Qi gave clear instructions. No other beastmen are allowed inside. If someone enters, all the treatment done before will be completely wasted.”
He looked earnestly at the Black Wolf Chief.
“For the sake of your tribe members, please endure it for a few more days.”
