Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 149
Wu Yue followed him and looked at the two tree ape corpses, her eyes full of excitement.
“Check quickly. Do these two tree ape have beast cores in their bodies?”
Her voice brimmed with anticipation.
Yuan Lang smiled at her. “If they do have cores, then both are yours.”
The beastmen around them did not object.
Everyone understood. The odd little arrow and the poison that had killed the tree ape were both made by the little female. She had even killed one of them herself.
Yuan Lang picked up a sharp stone and walked to one of the corpses. He took a deep breath and began to cut.
The scene was bloody.
But what shocked the beastmen the most was that both tree ape had beast cores inside.
Wu Yue took the two cores from Yuan Lang with a bright grin. She played with them for a while, then handed one back.
“Being able to kill those two tree ape, even if my poison and arrows helped, the most important thing was that you all held them off and gave me a chance.”
She smiled. “I really need one of these cores, so I’ll shamelessly keep this one.”
The beastmen chuckled. “A warrior who wants a beast core should earn it through battle. But we cannot ignore the little female’s kindness either.”
They even waggled their eyebrows playfully at Yuan Lang.
“Enough talk. Now that we have the cores, let’s get out of here. Do you want to wait for a wave of feral beasts to arrive?”
Yuan Qi’s voice came from the side. He looked at the core in his son’s hand and grumbled inwardly.
That brat is completely unfilial. I haven’t even touched a core this entire trip, and I’m his father.
Maybe because the young beastmen had encountered too many feral beasts today, many of them were injured.
Fortunately, the trip was not for nothing. Wu Yue still had plenty of herbs in her basket.
After quickly treating all the warriors, she finally felt a rare wave of fatigue and curled up in her grass nest to sleep.
Yuan Lang came in once, laid some dry grass over her, and went out to eat with the others.
But that peaceful time did not last long.
A few days later, while Wu Yue was sorting herbs in the cave, she heard hurried footsteps outside.
Are the beastmen already back?
She looked at the sky. It was still early.
But then she understood. Teng Kun had returned, and on his back was a beastman who looked as though he had been scorched by fire.
The sight was terrifying. Wu Yue instinctively shuddered. Was there a forest fire nearby?
The atmosphere in the cave grew heavy. The beastmen’s expressions were grim.
Several others were burned as well, although not as severely.
“With injuries like this, we can only return to the tribe. I just hope he can hold on.”
Yuan Qi’s voice carried a bitter edge.
Everyone knew death often accompanied a hunt, but that didn’t make it easier to accept.
“Uncle Yuan Qi, shouldn’t we try applying some herbs to this beastman’s wounds first?”
