Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 145
Teng Qian’s swollen face broke into a warm smile. “Thank you, lion… little female,” he said.
Wu Yue’s expression remained cold. Don’t think I don’t know you wanted to call me lion head.
Over the next few days, the young beastmen went out to hunt. The elder beastmen divided into two groups. One group accompanied the young beastmen, while the other group took Wu Yue to gather herbs nearby and scout for information about feral beasts. The previous hunt against the tree ape had been dangerous. Wu Yue knew her limits and chose not to interfere.
The beastmen’s strength came from battle. Only through constant fighting and improvement could they grow stronger. This was entirely different from Wu Yue’s cultivation of Wu Power.
The herbs deep in the forest astonished Wu Yue, who lacked experience. The system’s analysis revealed an incredible variety. There were herbs beyond anything she could imagine, growing in abundance. While the beastmen scouted, Wu Yue collected herbs and secretly stored many in her system space.
“System, organize these herbs and create a Beast World Herb Collection,” Wu Yue instructed. “Mark their locations as well.”
A whiny voice echoed in her mind. “Stingy host, you want the horse to run but won’t feed it grass? Because of your miserly ways, I haven’t eaten tasty system-exclusive snacks in ages. I’ve analyzed so many herbs for you. Can’t you treat me like a pet and feed me something?”
Wu Yue snorted. “Don’t act like I don’t know. You skimmed plenty from our past deals. Stop pretending to be pitiful.”
The system, its chubby, barely visible waist puffed out, hopped around on the panel. “Host, you’re too harsh! I’m telling you, being stingy is bad. Our friendship’s little boat could capsize any moment.”
Wu Yue replied, “Capsize it then. Even the great ship of love isn’t always stable. The Titanic sank, so what are you expecting?”
The system fell silent. I’m at a loss for words.
Perhaps because she was distracted by the system, Wu Yue failed to notice the surroundings growing eerily quiet. The rustling of leaves in the breeze remained, but the chirping of insects and birds had vanished.
“Little female, come to the middle of our group,” Yun Qi’s voice suddenly called out.
Wu Yue realized the abnormality in the environment and frowned. “Uncle, is there a feral beast nearby?” she asked softly.
Yun Qi’s face was grave. “I don’t know what it is yet, but this feeling is dangerous.”
Only three middle-aged beastmen and Wu Yue, who had little combat ability, were in the group. If they encountered a powerful feral beast, their situation looked grim.
“System, find that bottle of poison in my space,” Wu Yue ordered in a low voice. She generously rewarded the system with one point.
The system, delighted by the reward, provided excellent service. The bottle of poison appeared instantly in the small basket by Wu Yue’s side. They didn’t wait long before heavy footsteps sounded ahead. The group looked and saw two familiar figures.
Wu Yue’s face paled. “It’s two tree ape!” she exclaimed. A million mythical beasts stampeded through my heart. What kind of divine luck is this?
The two tree ape’s blood-red eyes locked onto the three middle-aged beastmen. The beastmen’s faces turned ashen. “Damn, we’re in big trouble!” one cursed.
