Watching the young female stride away, Yuan Lang raised an eyebrow slightly. Her playful jab had landed with perfect timing.

Back inside the cave, Teng Qian still sat with a dark face, gnawing savagely on a piece of meat. He looked furious.

Wu Yue pulled out a wild vegetable cake and wandered over.

“Don’t be angry. So, what if a lustful monkey took a liking to you?”

She pointed at the surrounding beastmen.

“They didn’t get picked. That probably means they are just not attractive enough.”

Teng Qian glanced at her.

“You are absolutely right.”

Wu Yue raised an eyebrow, ready to gloat. But his next words hit her out of nowhere.

“But I am not listening.”

Wu Yue:

If I had a slipper, your face would already be wearing it.

She clicked her tongue at him and turned away without hesitation.

Yuan Lang walked over, clearly amused.

“You do not need to comfort him. Just watch. He will not even finish his meat before cheering up.”

Wu Yue looked skeptical.

“Really?”

That kind of emotional rebound was quite something.

Yuan Lang was about to nod when loud howls burst out from the other beastmen. A few of them had their arms around each other, saying who knew what, all wearing those pervy smiles that screamed, you know, I know, we all know.

The loudest laugh among them came from Teng Qian.

Wu Yue gave Yuan Lang a flat look. His expression clearly said, Told you so.

“Is that guy sure he’s not related to Sha Seng?”

Yuan Lang blinked.

“No. His brother is Teng Kun.”

Wu Yue snorted and looked again at the beastman who was laughing so hard even his gums were showing.

What an idiot.

The next day, the beastmen prepared to ambush the tree ape. Surprisingly, Teng Qian volunteered to be the bait.

He stood proudly at the front of the group, full of flamboyance.

“Once I bring them over, just jump in and beat the crap out of them.”

Whether they understood or not, the beastmen replied with confidence.

“Got it.”

The recently injured beastman stood beside Wu Yue. Although his leg had not healed completely, he could still protect the young female.

He also hoped to gain some favor with her and maybe leave a lasting impression.

Having such a strong young female as a mate sounded like a dream.

That thought made a slightly dazed smile spread across his face.

Teng Qian might act like a clown, but when it came to action, he was reliable. He said he would lure one, but he never brought just one.

They had assumed the tree ape were all females and should, by their name, at least look a little pleasant.

No one knew how the tree ape had developed, but their dark tusks and filthy claws, their massive bodies a full head taller than the average beastman, and worst of all, their speed that rivaled Snow Tiger beastmen, were beyond terrifying.

Watching Teng Qian sprinting at full speed with one chasing behind him, Wu Yue suddenly imagined herself in his place.

If it were me, I would curse my parents for not giving me more legs.

“Damn it, what are you doing? Get in there already! If this thing catches me, I am done for! Aaaah!”

Just as he yelled, a thick hand with black, razor-sharp claws grabbed a strand of his flying hair.

Teng Qian twisted around instantly. His clawed fingers slashed the strand loose. With a sharp pivot, he darted behind Yuan Lang.
