Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 131
Inside Ye Duo’s cave, a half-beastman warrior stared sorrowfully at the dark red stain on the ground.
That had been his cub. It had not even been born, and now it was already gone.
His face was etched with grief while Ye Duo, lying weakly on a bed of grass, wore nothing but an expression of impatience.
“Can you clean up all this blood? I am very tired. I want to rest.”
The half-beast’s body froze. He looked up at her in disbelief, only to meet her irritated gaze. Suddenly, a strange calm settled over him.
He walked to the side and picked up the only beast hide in his cave. Carefully, he bundled the blood-soaked soil into it. After giving Ye Duo one last glance, he turned and walked out.
Ye Duo watched him leave and curled her lips without care.
A half-beast? Maybe she would have cared once, but now she was a Wu apprentice in the tribe. Beast warriors hovered around her constantly. Why would she bother with someone like that anymore?
Meanwhile, the chief of the Snow Tiger Tribe sat across from the chief of the Wild Lion Tribe, a headache throbbing in his temples.
Ye Duo, you walking disaster. Can you really not go a single day without stirring up trouble?
The Wild Lion chief interrupted his thoughts. “This is simple. Just ask that half-beastman warrior. If your tribe’s Wu apprentice did not want to become mates with our warrior, then she should have restrained herself. Do not come blaming our beastmen when things go wrong.”
The Snow Tiger Chief’s expression remained unreadable. “I will speak with Ye Duo and the half-beastman warrior. Whether your words are true, I will find out.”
The Wild Lion chief stood. “Then I will wait to hear your response.”
With that, he turned and left with his tribe.
Only once they had gone did the Snow Tiger Chief rise, his face twisted with fury.
“Ye Duo, Ye Duo… you truly know how to stir up a mess for me.”
Still seething, he made his way toward Ye Duo’s cave.
After listening to Ye Duo’s pitiful tale, he went to find the half-beastman warrior. It was only then that he finally learned the truth.
The thought that the future Wu of his tribe might have such a vicious heart made his scalp tingle.
He turned on the spot and headed straight for the Wu’s cave. This could not be ignored.
At that time, Ye Duo was fast asleep in her cave, entirely unaware that her standing in the eyes of the two most powerful figures in the tribe had dropped once again.
At the entrance of the tribe, members of the Wild Lion Tribe, Black Wolf Tribe, and Eagle Tribe were saying their farewells to those of the Snow Tiger Tribe. The ritual had ended. It was time to return home. The grueling rainy season was coming. They had to prepare.
“Tiger, are you really not planning to relocate to higher ground again this rainy season?” asked the Wild Lion chief.
The Snow Tiger Chief offered a bitter smile and shook his head. “If it were a small tribe, that might be possible. But for tribes of our size, where could we go? If we abandon the caves and stay exposed to rain, our cubs and elderly beastmen will fall ill and die.”
The Eagle Chief’s deep gaze flickered. “If you need support, you may send someone to find us.”
Both the Black Wolf chief and Wild Lion chief nodded.
Unlike the Snow Tiger Tribe, the Eagle Tribe lived high atop the cliffs. They had nothing to fear from the floodwaters of the rainy season.
