Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 120
Just as Teng Qian was about to charge forward in a fit of rage, he happened to catch sight of the golden beast mark on a certain chief’s arm. He immediately gave a sheepish laugh and slipped behind Yuan Lang.
“Boss, this one looks tough. You go.”
Yuan Lang’s mouth twitched as he looked at this absolutely useless underling. “I swear, if I smashed your face in, the phrase ‘bully the weak and fear the strong’ would be etched across your forehead. That expression must have been created just for you.”
Teng Qian chuckled. “Hehe… you taught me well, Boss.”
Yuan Lang glanced from Teng Qian to the Black Wolf Tribe beastman still howling at his feet. Somehow, the resemblance between the two was uncanny.
“Both chiefs arrived quite early. I am Yuan Lang, a warrior of the Snow Tiger Tribe.”
He introduced himself in an even, calm tone.
“Our hunting has already ended. May I ask if all the beastmen from your tribes have arrived?”
The Wild Lion Tribe’s chief laughed heartily. “Of course. We are all here.”
Then he turned toward the Black Wolf chief, whose expression had turned darker than his fur. “Old Hei, what about you?”
The Black Wolf chief forced a laugh. “We are here as well.”
But before he could finish his sentence, the sound of rapid footsteps came from the forest behind them.
“Chief, we just went off to take a squat, and when we got back, you were gone. We almost got lost!”
The returning beastman gave a dumb grin as he spoke.
The Black Wolf chief muttered through gritted teeth. “I swear I…”
Suddenly, the sound of crisp slaps rang out across his face, one after another.
Even Yuan Lang could not stop the corners of his mouth from twitching. He could feel the wave of embarrassment crashing over the Black Wolf chief.
“Ahem. Since everyone has gathered, please follow me. I will lead you back to the tribe.”
Without another word, he transformed into a massive snow tiger and started heading back.
As they neared the Snow Tiger Tribe, Yuan Lang raised his head and let out a series of powerful beastly roars. Loud and clear replies echoed in response from the direction of the tribe.
By the time they arrived at the gates, the Snow Tiger Chief and many members of the tribe were already waiting.
Standing next to the Snow Tiger Chief was Ye Duo, wearing a gentle smile.
In the crowd, Wu Yue furrowed her brow. It seemed the tribe held Ye Duo, their only Wu apprentice, in very high regard.
At least at a moment like this, Ye Duo still represented the face and pride of the tribe.
The Snow Tiger Tribe had long been seen by other tribes as one lacking a Wu apprentice. Now, they had clearly shed that label.
Seeing Ye Duo, tall and strong and smiling so calmly, the beastmen from both visiting tribes stared with eyes full of heat.
The Wild Lion chief stepped forward. “Tiger, who is this female?”
The Snow Tiger Chief remained as calm as ever. “This is Ye Duo, the Wu apprentice of our Snow Tiger Tribe.”
Wu Yue noticed the Wild Lion chief’s expression freeze at a speed that could be seen with the naked eye. Even the Black Wolf chief behind him looked visibly uncomfortable.
There was even a flicker of shock in his voice. “Your tribe has a Wu apprentice now?”
The Snow Tiger Chief gave a faint smile. “Of course. Do your tribes not have one as well?”
The two chiefs gave awkward chuckles. As if this is the same thing. They had come here ready to enjoy a bit of drama.
Instead of entertainment, they had walked straight into dreadful news. The Snow Tiger Tribe now had a Wu apprentice.
“No need to stand around outside. Come in.”
The Snow Tiger Chief raised a hand and motioned them in with polite calm.
Both visiting chiefs wore the kind of expression one might have after chewing bitter roots. The beastmen behind them looked at Ye Duo with eyes full of new depth.
This was definitely not good news. Especially not for their two tribes.
