Living in the Beast World With a System - Chapter 114
“That’s right, Chief. Everyone knows how that little female joined our tribe. Many of us beastmen were there at the time. That was a beast core! We can’t let someone who contributed something like that be treated unfairly.”
“The thatched huts she built are also spacious and useful. Even we pure humans have started building them. This little female knows quite a lot. She’s only been in the tribe for a short while and has already brought us so many benefits. We won’t allow Ye Duo to bully her.”
“Exactly. My father’s life was saved thanks to her herbs.”
Shi Lin, who had just arrived, joined in.
All the tribespeople stood firmly on Wu Yue’s side. This was something the chief had not expected.
The chief and the Wu had known about Wu Yue’s contributions to the tribe. What they had not realized was how deeply the tribespeople had come to value her.
The chief spoke with steady sincerity. “I’ve heard everything you’ve said. Now go on home. Are you really all this idle?”
Once the crowd heard this, they understood the chief had taken their words to heart. Content, they began to disperse.
Along the way, the voices of females teaching their cubs could still be heard.
“From now on, if you hear the name Ye Duo, spread those four little claws and run like crazy. Do not look back, understand?”
The little cubs blinked their large watery eyes and looked up at their mothers. “Awooo?”
Their gazes were filled with confusion.
What is a Ye Duo? Can you eat it? Or is it something to drink?
The cubs’ innocent bewilderment made the females ruffle their heads with affection.
The tiger-faced cubs looked distressed. If she keeps rubbing my head like this, won’t I go bald before I even grow up?
Next to them, a Snow Tiger beastman ran his hand through his thick, lush hair.
No need to worry. Your father was rubbed like this since childhood, and my hair is still as thick as ever.
However, when he saw the handfuls of tiger fur his mate was pulling out with each rub, he added silently, If the cub really does go bald young, it must be inherited from the mother.
When it came to shifting blame, no one could outmatch the Snow Tiger Tribe’s beastmen.
Meanwhile, Ye Duo had returned to her cave with a heart full of worry. What happened today had gone far differently from what she expected.
She had thought that since she was the only Wu apprentice in the tribe, the others would begin to respect her. She never expected that the tribespeople would show her no regard at all, and worse, that they would go to complain about her because of that wretched outsider female.
“Ye Duo, the Wu wants to see you in his cave.”
A half-beastman warrior came to deliver the message.
Ye Duo’s heart clenched. She stood up, nervous, and pressed her lips together. Her eyes flickered with uncertainty. After several deep breaths, she lifted her feet and walked toward the Wu’s cave.
Inside, the chief was speaking with the Wu. When they heard footsteps approaching from outside, both looked up.
Ye Duo appeared at the cave entrance.
“Come in,” the Wu said. His voice was hoarse and low, yet it carried a natural authority.
What Ye Duo did not know was that this tone came from the long-term use of Wu power.
She stood quietly inside the cave, looking nothing like the arrogant and overbearing figure she usually presented.
“We’ve already heard what happened today from the other tribespeople,” the Wu began. “Although you are the only pure human in the tribe to have shown signs of Wu power, that does not mean you will always be the only Wu apprentice. Do you understand what I mean?”
Ye Duo’s face turned pale. She tried her best to smile, but her lips would not cooperate. In the end, she could only nod obediently.
“I understand, Wu. I will be more careful in the future.”
