Level 1 Little Zombie Doomsday Growth Diary - Chapter 91
Chapter 91
Qian Hui took the communicator from Chili Pepper. “The Giant Corpse is nearby.”
“Understood,” Yuan Ji replied calmly. “Acknowledged.”
A considerable amount of time had passed since the Giant Corpse’s first appearance in the vicinity, yet it had only now launched its formal assault.
Lettuce speculated that it had been waiting for the entire Zombie Horde to fully coalesce.
The Giant Corpse had concealed numerous forces in the adjacent area, rarely revealing itself. The Zombie Horde under its command must be vast.
While Black Reef had focused on cultivating high-grade zombies, the Giant Corpse prioritized quantity.
Moreover, with the death of the Black-Reef Zombie King, the portions of the Zombie Horde that had once belonged to Black Reef were now roaming freely and would likely be summoned by the Giant Corpse.
However, while the Giant Corpse had been patiently waiting, the plants hadn’t been idle either.
Thanks to Sunflower and Qian Hui’s pills, the Plant Squad, which had previously exhausted its energy, had rapidly recovered and was now at peak condition.
Even Timothy, the cat-tailed grass, dutifully visited Qian Hui daily to eat a few pills before basking in the sun and napping.
The Black Ridge Mountain Base had also taken action. Yuan Ji had contacted several nearby allied bases early on, and a human team had set up temporary lodgings in a nearby safe zone, ready to respond and provide support at a moment’s notice.
In short, both sides were thoroughly prepared.
Just minutes later, Yuan Ji sent a message confirming that allied reinforcements were en route, estimated to arrive within twenty minutes at the earliest.
Protective shields shimmered to life around both bases simultaneously. Apple, having recently consumed a large number of crystal cores, exhaled even denser maze mist, completely shrouding both bases.
A Flyer and a modified car sped out from the base, their first mission to rescue the human team and two mutated plants trapped by the Zombie Horde.
Carrot stood atop the defensive wall, issuing commands. All Three-Barrel Cannons were deployed, and the various squads braced themselves for battle.
Qian Hui stood beside Carrot, gazing into the distance.
The Zombie Horde surging toward them grew larger and larger, a pitch-black tide stretching as far as the eye could see.
A heavy feeling settled in his heart. Nut suddenly leaped over, transforming into its two-meter-tall Giant Nut form and leaning against him.
Knowing Nut was trying to comfort him, Qian Hui wrapped his arms around it. “Xiao Guo, be careful.”
Nut swayed slightly, responding with a soft “Mhm.”
The rescue team, led by Chili Pepper, reported via communicator that they had arrived at the trapped team’s location.
Fortunately, the Zombie Horde there was relatively small. The Flyer and modified car’s firepower quickly decimated most of the zombies.
Two humans sustained minor injuries. The mutated plants in the back, a Pineapple and a Taro, were well-protected but terrified, nearly jumping out of the car to escape.
Fortunately, the plants arrived in time. Four-Leaf Clover squeezed into the back seat, doing its best to calm the two mutated plants.
Chili Pepper instructed the human team’s vehicles to follow them as they headed back to the base.
Meanwhile, the surrounding zombie horde grew closer, converging from all directions, though the largest concentration was clearly advancing toward the Plant Base.
Leading the charge were over a dozen high-grade zombies, guiding the way. When they encountered the persistent fog obscuring their vision, they hesitated briefly before charging through.
Rubber Tree tapped its Three-Barrel Cannon, firing the first shot with a crack. The other plants followed suit immediately.
The Giant Corpse remained hidden. Carrot and Nut stayed put for now, while Sweet Pepper anxiously scanned the horizon until it finally spotted the returning Flyer in the distance.
The Flyer escorted two modified cars below, blasting through any zombies that blocked their path, and successfully returned to the base.
The human team first headed to the Black Ridge Mountain Base to tend to their injuries or assist in the fighting. Cabbage carried Pineapple and Taro down, handing them over to Little Cabbage and Soft Vine. Chili Pepper hurried to the perimeter wall to help defend.
The approaching zombie horde had grown even larger, temporarily halted by the initial barrage of fire.
“Woo!”
At Carrot’s call, Lettuce leaped onto the wall.
It pulled out a few leaves, crumpled them, held its breath, focused intently, and took a deep breath before blowing into the leaves.
Lettuce crumpled the leaves into a ball, which rapidly expanded as Bewitching Mist was blown into it, reaching a diameter of two meters in the blink of an eye.
Lettuce closed its eyes and continued blowing until the ball reached a four-meter diameter, then stopped to catch its breath.
Cradling the massive leaf ball, it kicked it out with a powerful kick.
The leaf ball floated lightly over the Zombie Horde before suddenly exploding, releasing a cloud of green Bewitching Mist that instantly spread across the battlefield.
Unlike humans, zombies had no antidote and no instinct to evade the mist. Chaos erupted within the horde.
Lettuce squinted, observing the scene for a moment before grinning confidently. It pulled out more leaves, preparing to make another batch.
Several high-grade zombies, possessing greater intelligence, quickly recognized the situation and rushed forward to urge the horde onward.
However, the zombies, now disoriented by the Bewitching Mist, could no longer follow commands and even turned on the high-grade zombies.
Meanwhile, the base’s relentless gunfire further slowed the horde’s advance.
Lettuce finished blowing a second leaf ball and kicked it in another direction.
As the ball drifted into the distance, about to explode, an exceptionally tall figure loomed into view.
It stood at least five meters tall, its body a mass of grotesque, bulging muscles, its crimson eyes glowing like massive light bulbs.
It was a Giant Corpse.
Lettuce frantically tried to detonate the ball remotely, but it was too late. The Giant Corpse snatched the leaf ball and hurled it high into the air.
Its power was immense. The leaf ball exploded in mid-air, releasing Bewitching Mist, but its effect was far weaker than before.
Lettuce cursed inwardly, summoning all its strength to frantically blow more leaf balls. This time, the balls were much smaller, and it hurled them all out in a single breath.
There’s no way the Giant Corpse can block all of these, it thought.
Lettuce activated its skill again, redirecting the Bewitching Mist-controlled zombies to target the Giant Corpse, which lunged at it to intercept.
But the Giant Corpse seemed unfazed. Ignoring the remaining leaf balls, it shoved aside the obstructing zombies and continued its relentless march toward the base.
The Zombie Horde’s numbers were overwhelming. Even with Lettuce’s effective skill felling large swathes of zombies, more kept pouring in endlessly, ensuring they wouldn’t run out anytime soon.
Watching the Giant Corpse steadily advance, Carrot unleashed a barrage of carrot rain, probing its defenses.
The carrot rain targeted only the Giant Corpse, while attacks against the rest of the Zombie Horde continued unabated.
Without flinching, the Giant Corpse bent down and ripped a massive boulder from the ground, raising it with one hand to shield itself.
The boulder gradually crumbled under the carrot thorn assault, fragments raining down on the Giant Corpse. Yet it seemed impervious to pain, continuing its relentless advance.
Then Nut moved.
It leaped over the wall, its form rapidly expanding until the massive Giant Nut nearly fell from the sky, crushing down upon the Giant Corpse.
The Giant Corpse dropped the remaining stone fragments and braced itself, turning its back to absorb the impact.
The Giant Nut slammed down several times, bouncing off with each strike. When the dust settled, the Giant Corpse stood firmly in place, seemingly unaffected.
It straightened its back, its crimson eyes glaring forward, and resumed its advance, ignoring the Giant Nut.
Carrot’s expression grew grave. This Giant Corpse would be a formidable opponent.
It ordered the attacking squad to maintain their assault, focusing on the Zombie Horde, while signaling another squad to prepare for engagement.
Lettuce’s leaf ball continued its relentless barrage, while Big Pea piloted its Flyer into the air. Combined with the ranged attacks of other plants, not even high-grade zombies could advance a single step.
Only the Giant Corpse remained—thick-skinned, immensely strong, and impervious to ordinary attacks.
Soon, it reached the maze mist and stepped inside.
The fog obscured its vision, causing the Giant Corpse to initially stumble off course. But it was cunning. By tracking the origin of the ranged attacks, it quickly reoriented itself and found the correct path.
Seeing this, Carnivorous Flower burst through the wall and lunged forward, sinking its teeth into the Giant Corpse’s shoulder and engaging it in a fierce struggle.
Though wounded, the Giant Corpse’s strength remained undiminished. It forcibly pried open Carnivorous Flower’s jaws, seized its flower stalk, and hurled it aside.
Durian led the heavy assault squad to reinforce the attack. Cabbage and Big Peanut, wearing newly purchased iron gauntlets, pummeled the Giant Corpse with their fists.
The plants’ ferocious assault forced the Giant Corpse to stagger backward several steps.
It casually touched the wound on its side, then suddenly seized Big Peanut, crushing him in its grip.
Several bamboo blades struck in time, causing the Giant Corpse to hesitate momentarily. A flash of red blurred past.
Sweet Pepper plunged a dagger into the Giant Corpse’s hand, rescuing Big Peanut and swiftly retreating to the base.
It darted back into the fray, using its incredible speed to relentlessly attack the Giant Corpse’s legs.
Behind them, Carrot glanced at Pomelo.
Pomelo nodded slightly, signaling that it was ready. It rolled over the wall, “guruguru”ing toward the Giant Corpse.
Pomelo’s close-combat skill was unique: the taller the target, the greater the damage inflicted.
The leaf-wrapped sphere hurtled toward the Giant Corpse, catching it completely off guard. The first impact knocked the Giant Corpse off its feet.
Seizing the opportunity, Carnivorous Flower clamped its jaws around the Giant Corpse’s head and dragged it outward.
Yet even then, the Giant Corpse refused to yield.
It broke free from Carnivorous Flower’s grip, withstood the pincer attack from Nut and Durian, and hurled boulders to block Cabbage’s advance.
As for the attacks from Sweet Pepper and the other plants, they inflicted little damage, and the Giant Corpse ignored them completely.
Having seemingly lost its patience or perhaps having assessed the plants’ capabilities, the Giant Corpse decided to waste no more time. It lowered its massive frame slightly, bending its knees into a crouch.
In the next instant, the Giant Corpse charged forward, its massive feet shaking the ground with each thunderous step.
The Carnivorous Flower failed to stop it. In the blink of an eye, the Giant Corpse reached the defensive wall and slammed its clenched fist against the protective barrier.
When the dark, blue-black fist was still half a meter from the barrier, the Giant Corpse froze.
Nan Tingjin raised his hand slightly, immobilizing the Giant Corpse. Its legs were forcibly dragged backward a few inches.
But the Giant Corpse’s immense strength gradually resisted the control, and it slowly took a step forward.
At that moment, Timothy, the Cat-Tail Grass, nimbly leaped onto the Rubber Tree’s crown, landing beside Nan Tingjin.
With a flick of its tail, Timothy unleashed a transparent ripple of spatial energy.
The invisible force enveloped the Giant Corpse, and in the next instant, it was teleported far behind the defensive line.
Nut, the Giant Nut, rolled forward in perfect coordination, unleashing a charged attack. Ten identical Giant Nuts formed an impenetrable barrier around the base.
Just then, reinforcements from the human team finally arrived, assisting in the slaughter of the Zombie Horde from the outside.
The Sunflower’s radiant light bathed the battlefield. Timothy leaped onto the crown of one of the Giant Nuts, its gaze fixed on the approaching Giant Corpse.
This Zombie King possessed no special abilities, yet it remained a formidable opponent. Ordinary attacks and ranged assaults proved almost entirely ineffective against it.
Even if a war of attrition was necessary, it would require the special-grade mutated plants to take the lead.
After all, having lived together in the Little Courtyard for so long, they should still have some synergy.
Timothy lowered its head and exchanged a glance with Carrot.
Carrot nodded. Along with Lettuce and Big Pea, it continued to monitor the massive zombie horde behind them.
Carnivorous Flower roared and charged forward with Cabbage, Pomelo, and Sweet Pepper, who specialized in delivering finishing blows.
Timothy, perched atop Nut’s head, abandoned its attacks to focus on supporting the other plants.
Its Spatial Ability might seem simple, but it had many applications. For example, when Pomelo rolled forward, Timothy could teleport the Giant Corpse directly into its path.
Or when Cabbage swung its fist, Timothy could flip the Giant Corpse upside down, replacing its defending arm with its more vulnerable ankle.
In an instant, the Giant Corpse sustained a series of injuries, trapped by the plants’ coordinated assault.
Moreover, the zombie horde stalled. As their numbers dwindled, Nan Tingjin manipulated the towering piles of corpses, sending them crashing down like surging waves onto the remaining zombies.
The Giant Corpse roared in fury and kicked violently at Cabbage beside it.
A glint flashed in Timothy’s eyes. Cabbage vanished from its spot, replaced by a high-grade zombie.
The high-grade zombie instantly lost its life force and collapsed at the Giant Corpse’s feet.
Pomelo followed closely behind, knocking the Giant Corpse off balance.
Summoning its courage, Pomelo pressed directly against the Giant Corpse’s chest, unleashing the dozens of Leaf Needles it had been accumulating.
The close proximity, combined with the needles’ perfect penetration rate, instantly pierced the Giant Corpse’s throat.
Its roar abruptly ceased. The Giant Corpse raised its hand, grabbed Pomelo by the head, and slammed it against the ground beside it.
Activating its Spatial Ability once more, the Giant Corpse and Pomelo reappeared mid-air, plummeting straight down.
The Giant Corpse released its grip, crashing heavily to the ground. The Carnivorous Flower opened its maw to catch the teleported Pomelo.
In the next instant, Cabbage and Sweet Pepper were teleported beside the Giant Corpse.
Cabbage fiercely hugged the Giant Corpse’s head, while Sweet Pepper gripped a small knife with both hands and stabbed relentlessly.
Sensing the Zombie King’s predicament, several high-grade zombies attempted to rush to its aid, only to be flung far away by Timothy.
Despite the relentless assault, the Giant Corpse still possessed considerable strength. It broke free from Cabbage’s grasp, clutched its throat, and staggered to its feet.
The Carnivorous Flower approached from behind, its jaws snapping shut with a vicious bite, its sharp teeth grinding down with brutal force.
The Giant Corpse struggled desperately for a full minute.

At the center of the base, Qian Hui, having received the Game Notification, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He cradled Little Mushroom in his arms, lowering his head to share the good news.
Outside the base, the Carnivorous Flower spat out the severed head.
Sweet Pepper quickly retrieved its head and dug out the crystal core in a few swift motions.
The Giant Corpse’s remaining body took a few stiff steps forward before finally collapsing, its life extinguished.
With the Zombie King dead, the remaining Zombie Horde descended into chaos.
Some zombies, still led by high-grade zombies, continued their assault, while those at the rear, sensing the weakening summons, turned and fled on their own.
Carnivorous Flower returned to the base with Cabbage and the others. The Flyers above, now uninhibited, unleashed a relentless barrage of attacks.
The Zombie Horde brought by the Zombie King was vast, and even with the human team’s assistance, the battle dragged on for another hour before finally showing signs of ending.
Qian Hui was stationed at the base’s center, forbidden from wandering. He waited anxiously, first spotting Nut and Timothy.
Nut had shrunk to just over a meter tall, carrying Timothy on its head as it hopped forward, followed by Carnivorous Flower and the other plants.
Qian Hui rushed forward to greet them, hugging each plant in turn before finally throwing himself into Nan Tingjin’s arms, inhaling his warm scent and taking a deep breath.
At that moment, the Game Notification popped up again.
