[ Obtained Plot Point Analysis: Time’s Enigma ]
[ Plot Point Key Figure: Wen Jue ]
[ With the doomsday’s arrival, humanity evolved abilities, gaining the power to fight against zombies and mutated plants. However, as time passed, some human ability users began to exhibit Lost State symptoms, suffering greatly from the pain inflicted by their own abilities and desperately seeking a solution. ]
[ Initially, Wen Jue, the leader of Sky Base, made the most progress, developing a potion that could alleviate the Lost State symptoms. Unsatisfied, he then attempted to find a solution within mutated plants, but his efforts repeatedly failed. ]
Later, Wen Jue accidentally discovered an Ability User (No. 826) with the power to revive dead mutated plants. He imprisoned this individual and forced them to participate in more mutated plant experiments.
During this time, Wen Jue developed a Sonic Device targeting Ability Users and a potion that dramatically enhanced their abilities. Through these experiments, he learned that he could reverse time.
When the mutated plant experiments were exposed, Ability User (No. 294) infiltrated the base but fell into a trap. Unable to rescue Ability User (No. 826), both were trapped along with eleven mutated plants.
Losing patience, Wen Jue used the Sonic Device to kill Ability User (No. 294). As he prepared to kill Ability User (No. 826), the mutated plants intervened. With the world collapsing beyond repair, Wen Jue activated his Advanced Ability, reversing time.
—
Qian Hui stood frozen in place, holding his breath.
Overwhelmed by shock and a hint of confusion, his expression was blank, and his body trembled slightly.
Nan Tingjin immediately noticed his distress. Assuming it was a reaction to seeing Wen Jue again, he pulled Qian Hui behind him, shielding him from Wen Jue’s gaze.
The Carnivorous Flower leaned closer, its leaves gently tugging at Qian Hui’s sleeve, its eyes filled with concern.
But Qian Hui remained unresponsive, still dazed.
He forced himself to focus, quickly rereading the lengthy text before him.
So… the descriptions in the Plot Point analysis were all events that had actually happened.
Yet aside from the two dream sequences, he had no memory of any of it, and Nan Tingjin had never mentioned any of it either.
Was I originally human?
The healing and resurrection effects matched the items in the Game System’s shop, but there wasn’t a single mention of the Game System in this information.
And at the end of the timeline record, it stated that he, Nan Tingjin, and eleven other mutated plants had not participated in the reset. What could that mean…?
It was as if they should have participated in the reset, returning to the very beginning, but had inexplicably been taken to the “Plant Little Courtyard” instead.
Qian Hui’s mind was still reeling when one of Yuan Ji’s subordinates rushed over.
The prison’s signal was blocked, preventing timely communication. With urgent news to report, the subordinate had come directly to find them.
“Leader, Captain Yuan,” the subordinate whispered, “Wen Jue’s belongings have been searched. We found a whole crate of potions, but… they’re all empty.”
The Pharmaceutical Factory at Sky Base had been destroyed. Rebuilding it would take far longer than a short time, making it impossible for Wen Jue to have carried so many empty bottles.
Sensing something amiss, the subordinate hurried to report.
Standing behind Nan Tingjin, Qian Hui overheard the subordinate’s words.
Empty potion bottles… a whole crate of them.
Could these be the ability-enhancing potions? Who had used them?
Wen Jue?
In an instant, a terrifying thought flashed through Qian Hui’s mind, followed by a wave of dread.
The records stated that Wen Jue’s Advanced Ability could only be used once.
But he had already used it once. Everything had been reset. Even if his memories were erased, when cornered again, he would likely choose the same method as before.
Qian Hui turned to look at Wen Jue in the cell.
Wen Jue’s lips curved into an eerie smile.
He murmured to himself, “So what if I lost? When I get another chance…”
Before he could finish, the surroundings suddenly fell utterly silent.
Wen Jue closed his eyes. Everything seemed to freeze in place, as if time had been paused. The crackling electric net solidified into strands.
The subordinate standing beside Yuan Ji took a step back.
At that moment, the air in the corridor twisted.
Timothy, who had been standing at Qian Hui’s feet, vanished into thin air, reappearing instantly inside the cell.
Its frozen figure seemed to leap forward, frame by frame, until it stood before Wen Jue.
Timothy’s headscarf was askew, its eyes wide with effort as it strained to move its tail.
Swish—
The sharp Tail Needle slashed across Wen Jue’s neck, leaving a long, bloody gash.
With a thud, Timothy landed heavily on the ground, panting.
The electric net crackled back to life, and the surroundings returned to normal.
Wen Jue, still bound to the chair, stared in disbelief as blood gushed from the wound on his neck. He gasped, unable to form coherent words.
His eyes fixed on Timothy, who seemed to have appeared out of thin air. Before losing consciousness, he saw a familiar pink mushroom emerge from the leaf at the Carnivorous Flower’s chest.
Moments later, Wen Jue drew his last breath, his eyes wide in death.
“Maomao!”
At Qian Hui’s alarmed cry, Yuan Ji immediately ordered the cell door opened.
Apart from Qian Hui and Timothy, no one else likely understood what had just transpired.
Yuan Ji still wondered how Timothy had suddenly barged in without a sound.
But with Wen Jue dead at Timothy’s hand, there was no need to investigate further.
The cell’s restraints were released, and Qian Hui rushed in to scoop Timothy off the floor.
“Maomao,” he murmured, cradling Timothy protectively, his heart still pounding with fear. “Thank you…”
Timothy wearily flicked the tip of its tail. Having used its charged attack yesterday, it hadn’t fully recovered yet, and the short journey had nearly drained all its energy.
Hmph… Good thing I came. This human was definitely up to no good.
Timothy’s ability was related to space and highly sensitive to the flow of time. It had long sensed an odd aura emanating from Wen Jue.
Other plants gathered around, escorting Qian Hui and Timothy out of the prison.
Now that Wen Jue was dead and the reward for the Hidden Mission had been obtained, Qian Hui didn’t linger in the dungeon for a second longer, immediately returning to the Plant Base.
On the way back, Yuan Ji drove the car, explaining that they would dispose of Wen Jue’s body and that the remaining fugitives from the River-Sea Base were being pursued, with several other bases assisting in the hunt.
Qian Hui listened distractedly, cradling Timothy in his arms and clinging tightly to Nan Tingjin’s side.
In truth, even Timothy didn’t fully understand the consequences had they failed to stop Wen Jue.
Only Qian Hui knew the full extent of the danger.
Upon returning to the Plant Base, Timothy took some pills and was escorted away by the anxious and concerned flower-type plants.
Nan Tingjin took Qian Hui back to their small wooden cabin alone, pulled him into his arms, and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Ever since seeing Wen Jue, Qian Hui had been acting strangely, as if his mind were elsewhere.
Qian Hui kept his head buried in Nan Tingjin’s chest, taking a long moment to compose himself. “I…”
He wanted to tell Nan Tingjin everything, but he didn’t know where to begin.
Even with the hints from the Game’s Plot Points, there were still some things he couldn’t understand.
Neither Nan Tingjin’s memories nor Qian Hui’s dreams had fully pieced together the truth.
It was as if they only remembered each other, having forgotten everything else.
“There’s no rush,” Nan Tingjin murmured. “Tell me slowly.”
Outside the cabin, several plants stood guard anxiously for a while. Once they were certain Qian Hui was safe with Nan Tingjin, they gradually turned and left.
The Carnivorous Flower stayed nearby, playing with Little Mushroom, no longer mentioning the human who had died in the prison cell.
—
The day passed quickly, and as night fell, the base’s cabbage lamps were uniformly extinguished, plunging the area into darkness.
Late that night, a white dot suddenly appeared high above the base.
It was a miniature teleportation portal, its door open to reveal a small room inside. Four Mushrooms sat within, their faces solemn as they reviewed electronic documents displayed before them.
A mechanical figure stood nervously beside them, wearing a miniature ID badge that read: “No. 889” and “Trainee Host Assistant.”
