Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 416
The Watson Tribe’s simple yet stylish beast hide clothing stood out among the surrounding beastmen, who were bundled up like round balls. Curious glances were cast their way.
Xiong Dan, looking like he’d gained an extra layer of fat due to his heavy wrappings, trudged awkwardly over to Ge Xing. “What’s this you’re wearing? It looks pretty nice. Is it warm?”
Ge Xing chuckled. “It’s definitely warmer than what you’ve got.”
Xiong Dan scoffed. “Thin layers like that? Warmer than this? Yeah, right.”
“Chief Ge Xing, I didn’t expect your tribe’s clothing to be so warm and still not restrict movement,” Meng Tai commented from nearby.
Xiong Dan turned toward Meng Tai and immediately noticed him wearing the same kind of beast hide clothing as the beastmen from Watson.
“Ge Xing!” Xiong Dan exclaimed indignantly. “We’re supposed to be close. Why didn’t you make me one of those?”
Ge Xing laughed. “These clothes require other materials to make, and we could only produce this many.”
He gestured with his chin toward the rest of the Grizzly Tribe behind Xiong Dan, bundled up like oversized fur balls. “You’re their chief. How could you make yourself an exception, huh?”
Xiong Dan gave Ge Xing a tight-lipped, forced smile. “Hmph!” He turned and stomped back toward his tribe.
Meng Tai stepped closer, his gaze burning with curiosity. “Chief Ge Xing, was this idea also from Ji Nuan?”
Ge Xing waved it off with a grin. “Oh no, this kind of beast hide clothing is something our elder shaman learned from a small tribe during her travels a long time ago.”
Meng Tai seemed convinced and walked away with a nod.
Ge Xing’s expression grew serious. I need to remind Xiu Yan to keep an eye on Ji Nuan. No, better yet, I’ll assign more beastmen to protect her.
Turning, he made his way back to his tribe’s group.
Following this, the beastmen from Watson noticed Ji Nuan carrying a palm-sized fluffy creature nestled in her arms. Around her wrist, hidden by her coat, was a coiled black snake resembling a bracelet. Close behind the silver wolf beastman Xiu Yan trotted a white snow leopard.
Though Ji Nuan found the level of protection somewhat excessive, as a physically vulnerable being in the beast world, she obediently went along with Ge Xing’s arrangements.
Throughout the journey, the sound of beastmen exhaling sharply from the cold could be heard. Yet the beastmen from Watson ran calmly, wrapped in their warm cotton-stuffed clothing. Ji Nuan herself was snugly bundled up and toasty warm.
“Why does it feel even colder this year?”
“Tell me about it. I brought an extra beast hide this time.”
“I brought two extras, and look at the Watson Tribe—they’re wearing so little but seem so much more comfortable than us.”
Hearing the discussions of the surrounding beastmen, Ji Nuan had to stifle a laugh. It’s not that we’re calm—we’re just not cold at all!
“We’re here,” Shi Jie announced, his voice tinged with excitement.
The group came to a halt, catching their breath as they looked ahead.
Ji Nuan and the beastmen from Watson were awestruck by the view before them.
The forest formed a natural border. On one side stretched an endless sea of green trees, while the other side opened into a vast expanse of snowy plains. To the left and right of the snowfield loomed towering snow-capped mountains, their peaks disappearing into the sky. The mountains extended endlessly into the distance, perhaps all the way to Beast God Mountain itself.
