The other two beastmen stared at him in horror. “What kind of medicine powder needs so many poisonous plants and fruits?!”

Ya Li smirked at their curiosity. “Want to know?”

Their eyes sparkled with interest, but Ya Li’s mischievous grin widened. “Not telling you.”

Ya Gu and She Wu’s eyes went wide with indignation, glaring at him.

Ya Li, suddenly turning serious, said, “Just focus on living a good life. Why do you need to know so much? When it’s time for you to know, you’ll be told.”

The two beastmen exchanged glances and obediently nodded.

On the grassy clearing, a pudgy silver wolf cub with a tuft of dark gray fur on its forehead was rolling around with a group of playmates, yipping happily.

From a distance, Xiu Li and Ge Rou sat on a beast hide mat, watching the energetic cubs. Their expressions softened with affection.

Ge Rou nudged Xiu Li with her elbow. “When Xiu Yan comes by with food today, ask him if he’s mated with Ji Nuan yet.”

Xiu Li’s mouth twitched, giving his mate a pointed look. “Ji Nuan is still not of age.”

Ge Rou pouted in disappointment and sighed. “Why does time pass so slowly? Even Qi cub doesn’t need us to watch over him anymore.”

Xiu Li pulled his mate into his arms to comfort her. “Why think about this so much? Xiu Yan and Ji Nuan are busy enough with their responsibilities. They’re not the type to visit us every day. And with everything going on in the tribe, they’ve got enough on their plates.”

Ge Rou nodded in agreement. “That’s true. We wouldn’t be doing so well now if it weren’t for Ji Nuan.”

Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she sat upright with renewed determination. “No, next time Xiu Yan comes with food, I’ll remind him to be cautious. We can’t have some other beast stealing Ji Nuan away!”

Xiu Li glanced at his mate helplessly. There’s no need to worry. Xiu Yan’s mind is sharper than his fur is thick. But for the sake of maintaining household peace, he swallowed his retort and instead focused on the frolicking cubs in the distance.

“Qi Qi? Xiao Pipi?” Ji Nuan called out, standing outside their courtyards. Ever since Qi Mo and Xiao Pipi had mated, their families had become even closer, often moving in and out as a group.

After calling out a few more times with no response, Ji Nuan frowned. Are they out?

“Hey, Nuan Nuan! What brings you here?” came Ge Ye’s voice from behind her.

Turning around, Ji Nuan saw that Ge Ye had lost some weight over the past few days. “Are you looking for Qi Qi and Xiao Pipi too? I called out, but no one’s here.”

Ge Ye chuckled. “Fu Yi and Bo Sen took them to catch some long-eared beast cubs. They probably won’t be back until evening. I just came by to help feed their clucking and quacking beasts.”

Ge Ye’s round eyes sparkled mischievously as she grabbed Ji Nuan’s arm. “Since you’re here, come help me! More hands make lighter work!”

Ji Nuan laughed helplessly. “Alright, alright! Don’t pull, I’m volunteering, see? Haha!”

The two females joked and laughed as they fed the clucking and quacking beasts together, enjoying the moment immensely.
