Ya Gu and She Wu trembled as they held the small, delicate fruit in their hands, their faces lighting up with joy. They turned to Ya Li, a shaman’s apprentice. “Is this… a Pregnant fruit?”

Ya Li’s grin stretched so wide it nearly reached his ears as he nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, it’s a Pregnant fruit! A rare and precious Pregnant fruit! I have no idea who left it here, though.”

Looking around conspiratorially, he smirked slyly. “But since it’s in my house, it must be meant for us.” With that, he quickly tucked the fruit into his beast hide pouch.

Turning to Ya Gu and She Wu, he instructed, “You two should keep this fruit safe. When you find a mate, you can give it to her.” She Wu held the fruit carefully, grinning like a fool, his joy almost embarrassing to witness.

Ya Gu, on the other hand, sighed with a bitter smile before handing his fruit back to Ya Li. “You know my situation. No female is going to pair with me, and I already have a cub. I can’t just leave her to start a new life with someone else.”

Ya Li considered this, then accepted the fruit. “Alright, I’ll hold onto it for now. But who knows, you might meet a good female someday.” Ya Gu shrugged indifferently.

Suddenly, a heart-wrenching howl echoed from another room in Ya Li’s house.

“Brother!!!” She Wu’s anguished cry rang out from the bedroom.

The two beastmen exchanged a glance before rushing to the room.

“What happened?”
“What’s going on?”

“Shameless wolf?” She Wu turned to Ya Gu.

Ya Gu twitched the corner of his mouth. “You mean Xiu Yan?”

Ya Li snorted. “Who else could it be?”

She Wu immediately stood up, puffing with anger. “Let’s go find him and get the snake shedding back!”

He turned and was about to leave when Ya Li grabbed him by the arm. “Are you forgetting something?”

She Wu blinked innocently. “What?”

Ya Li raised the Pregnant fruit in his hand and waved it. “If you’re going, bring the Pregnant fruit to trade.”

She Wu hesitated, muttering, “This Pregnant fruit…”

Ya Li poked his forehead with a finger. “If you don’t want to trade, then sit here and keep the fruit. He probably gave it to the shaman anyway.”
