“Shaman, Nana’s arm…” A tall, muscular beastman with a beard looked anxiously at the female lying on a beast hide mat. His gaze shifted to the old beastman standing beside him.

The old beastman carefully examined Mo Na’s arm. After some time, he gently set it down and, under the expectant gazes of the others, shook his head regretfully. “The bones in her arm are completely broken. There’s no way to heal it.”

At the mention of Mo Peisi, Mo Na’s heart burned with resentment. She clutched at the beast hide on her father’s chest with manic fervor. “It was his idea! He said they should break my arm! It was his decision!”

The beastman was stunned, looking down at his sobbing cub. “You’re saying it was Mo Peisi who suggested breaking your arm?”

Tears welled up in Mo Na’s large eyes as she bit her lip and nodded. She made no mention of the Watson Tribe forcing Mo Peisi to make a difficult choice.

Veins bulged on the beastman’s forearms, and his eyes burned with rage. “Mo Peisi dared to treat you this way? Has he forgotten what I told him before you all left? Is this how he looks after you?”

With a snarl, he gently laid Mo Na back down on the bed. “Rest now, my cub. When Mo Peisi returns, I’ll make sure to deal with him and get justice for you.”

Mo Na, hearing that her father still didn’t intend to kill Mo Peisi outright, broke into loud sobs and grabbed his arm. “Father, you can’t just forgive Mo Peisi. He wants to kill me! I saw it in his eyes, and in that old beastman with him—they both wanted me dead!”

The beastman froze, his expression deepening. He fixed Mo Na with a piercing stare. “Are you telling the truth? Speak honestly.”

Mo Na bit her lip and nodded. “Father, I swear to the Beast God, every word I just said is true. They wanted to kill me. If I hadn’t escaped back here, I’d already be dead.”

Mo Zha’s gaze grew cold and thoughtful. He bent down to gently pat Mo Na’s head, his voice soft once more. “Rest well. I understand now.”

He turned and walked out of the tent.

Outside, the elder shaman stroked his beard and asked, “Mo Zha, do you really believe what Mo Na just said?”

Mo Zha sighed, gazing at the distant sky. “Mo Na and Mo Zhu have always seen Mo Peisi as an enemy. It’s no surprise that Mo Peisi despises them. I believe he harbors killing intent toward Mo Na.”

The elder shaman glanced at him. “If that’s the case, why not get rid of this cub? You have other offspring, don’t you? Keeping Mo Peisi around is just inviting trouble.”

With that, the shaman turned and strode back toward his tent, leaving Mo Zha standing alone.
