Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 349
Ji Nuan smiled and announced to the gathered beastmen, “Tonight, let’s have dinner here. It’s the perfect opportunity to test how useful this iron tool is.”
The beastmen exchanged puzzled looks. The old beastman asked curiously, “Shaman, what is an iron tool?”
Ji Nuan held up the iron knife in her hand. “This. It’s made from the molten stone water you saw earlier.”
The old beastman walked up, astonished, and stared at the iron knife. “But wasn’t that just water?”
Ji Nuan chuckled. “Just like water freezes into ice when it’s too cold, the molten stone water solidified into this when it cooled.”
Hearing Ji Nuan’s suggestion to eat there, two beastmen immediately ran off and returned with two large prey beasts.
As one beastman prepared to use his claws to butcher the prey, Ji Nuan stopped him. “This time, we’ll use the new iron tool to butcher the prey.”
She turned and handed the iron knife to the beastman who had sharpened it earlier. “You should be the first to try it.”
The beastman hesitated, glancing at the small knife in his hand, which was barely the size of his palm. Could such a small thing really work as effectively as a beastman’s claws?
But seeing the expectant gazes of the others, he steadied himself, crouched beside one of the beasts, and picked up a leg. Tentatively, he drew the iron knife across it.
Huh?
The beastman stared in disbelief at the leg now completely detached from the beast’s body, dangling in his hand. He froze, utterly stunned.
The old beastman, seeing how easily the leg was removed, even more effortlessly than with their claws, stepped forward and patted the younger beastman’s shoulder. “You foolish cub! Didn’t the shaman say we were testing the iron tool? Why did you use so much strength?”
The beastman protested internally, It wasn’t me! I didn’t use any strength at all!
The old beastman shook his head, taking the iron knife from him. “Let me try it instead.”
He picked up the other leg of the prey and lightly ran the iron knife along it.
What?
With minimal effort, the iron knife cleanly sliced through the flesh, separating the leg from the body.
This is way too sharp!
The old beastman stood abruptly, his face filled with excitement as he turned to Ji Nuan. “Shaman, this iron tool… it’s so sharp!”
The surrounding beastmen, seeing the old beastman’s astonished reaction, crowded around, brimming with curiosity.
“Really? Is it sharper than the sharpest stones from the Rock Tribe?”
“Can we try it too?”
The old beastman looked at Ji Nuan, holding the iron knife like it was a precious treasure.
Ji Nuan smiled and took the knife from him, handing it to another beastman behind her. “Let him try next. He also helped in making this iron tool. After that, everyone who wants to try it can take turns.”
She pointed to the knife’s cutting edge. “This is the sharp side, so make sure you only use it to cut the meat. And whatever you do, don’t touch it with your hands.”
The beastmen’s eyes lit up with excitement, and they eagerly lined up behind the next user, some even impatiently urging, “Hurry up! We’re waiting back here!”
After every beastman had taken a turn and experienced the knife’s effectiveness, they finally settled down to roast the meat. Only then did Ji Nuan and the old beastman discuss the iron tool further.
“Shaman, is this iron tool really made from the molten stone water?” the old beastman asked.
