Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 346
The two chiefs, Xiong Dan and Shi Jie, sighed in relief, silently repeating to themselves, That’s good, that’s good…
They had assumed that only a few beastmen would choose to stay behind, which they would have already considered a success. To their surprise, all the beastmen who had come with Mo Peisi decided to remain in the Ainilu Forest.
“My mother has already gone to serve the Beast God. Whether I go back or not, it makes no difference.”
“Same here. I don’t have any family in the tribe. It’s better to stay with my brothers.”
“And besides, if we go back, we might have to deal with Mo Na’s revenge…”
“That’s right. Mo Na is a very vindictive female.”
“If she whispers something to the chief, we’d have no path left to take…”
The beastmen’s reasons varied. Some had no familial ties and thus felt it made no difference where they stayed, while others feared retaliation from Mo Na. Regardless, they all chose to stay, which brought Xiong Dan joy as it meant more warriors for the tribe.
A few days later, in the Watson Tribe.
“Chief, some beastmen have arrived outside. They claim to be from the Rock Tribe and are here to collect their injured clansmen,” a beastman called out, interrupting Ge Xing, the chief of the Watson Tribe, who was shamelessly enjoying a meal with his mate.
Straightening his beast hide clothing to appear more dignified, Ge Xing walked out with an air of authority, hands clasped behind his back. “Take them to meet the beastmen from the Rock Tribe first. I’ll come by later.”
The beastman acknowledged the order and ran off toward the gate to escort the Rock Tribe visitors.
The moment Ge Xing was out of sight, his dignified demeanor vanished. A sly grin spread across his face as he hunched over and hurried back inside. Who has time to deal with those smelly males? My mate is waiting for me to eat with her. That’s way more important! Lalalala~
Meanwhile, in Ji Nuan’s backyard, the corn she had planted just a few days ago—which had barely reached her ankles—had grown to her thighs. The rapid growth of plants in the beast world was nothing short of extraordinary.
Delighted, Ji Nuan spun in circles in her small cornfield, her heart brimming with joy.
After feeding the clucking beasts and quacking beasts in the pen, she washed her hands in a water jar and headed to the front yard.
“Shaman! Shaman!” Ji Nuan, who was about to go inside for a nap, stopped in her tracks when she heard a beastman shouting from outside the yard.
Curious, she turned around and saw a beastman rushing toward her, looking panicked. “What’s going on? Why are you in such a hurry?” she asked.
The beastman took a deep breath before replying, “While the tribe members were firing pottery today, some cubs threw red stones into the kiln. We thought we’d just pick the stones out after the firing, but unexpectedly, the stones melted into water!”
“Melted into water?” Ji Nuan murmured. The phrase sounded oddly familiar to her. She rubbed her temples in frustration. Why can’t I remember the important stuff when I need to?
Shaking off her confusion, she turned to the anxious beastman. “Alright, I’ll come take a look and see what’s going on.”
The beastman nodded and led Ji Nuan toward the pottery kiln.
By the time they arrived, a large group of beastmen had already gathered around the kiln, craning their necks to peek inside. Ji Nuan and the beastman squeezed their way through the crowd and found the elderly beastman in charge of the pottery looking utterly distraught.
Ji Nuan stepped forward. “What happened, uncle? I heard the stones melted into water?”
The old beastman’s face was lined with worry. “Yes, it’s true. The red stones the cubs threw in—they completely melted when we fired the pottery. I don’t know what to do about it…”
