Xiong Dan’s face darkened visibly. Mo Peisi pressed his lips together before answering, “My father said it was during the cold season. She fell ill and didn’t recover.”

Xiong Dan immediately suspected foul play. “It must have been that shaman’s child. They likely wanted to become your father’s mate and deliberately neglected your mother’s treatment.”

He then turned to Mo Peisi. “What’s your plan now? Are you going back to the Sera Tribe?”

Mo Peisi chuckled. “Go back? By now, my dear sister has probably returned and told my father how I ‘bullied’ her and caused her to lose an arm. If I go back, I don’t even know if I’ll still have both arms intact.”

Xiong Dan’s eyes reddened as he grabbed Mo Peisi’s hand. “Then don’t go back. Stay here in the Ainilu Forest and live in your uncle’s tribe.”
