Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 344
His mother had passed away long ago, and his father, now with a new mate, probably couldn’t even remember her name. In his father’s eyes, the rightful heir to the position of chief was his younger brother—the one born to the same mother as Mo Na.
If his younger brother became the chief, Mo Peisi feared he wouldn’t even know how he’d end up meeting the Beast God.
So…
A dark glint flashed across Mo Peisi’s eyes.
Such a tribe might as well remain in the position of the Second Trading Tribe.
“Hahaha, I heard beastmen from the Sera Tribe arrived. I didn’t expect it to be you, old fellow!” A hearty laugh boomed from the tent entrance, drawing the attention of everyone inside.
The old beastman sitting beside Mo Peisi looked up. When he saw Xiong Dan at the forefront of the group, his eyes sparkled with excitement. “Xiong Dan? You’re the chief of the Grizzly Tribe now?”
Xiong Dan laughed heartily. “That’s right! Surprised?”
The old beastman jumped to his feet, about to say something, but instead bent down and pulled Mo Peisi, who was seated on the beast hide mat, to his feet. “Mo Peisi, this is Xiong Dan, the chief of the Grizzly Tribe.”
Mo Peisi smiled warmly. “Chief Xiong Dan, nice to meet you!”
Just as he finished speaking, he felt a smack on the back of his head. Confused, he turned to look at the old beastman beside him.
Why did you hit me?
The old beastman wiped at his slightly reddened eyes and said, “Chief Xiong Dan is your mother’s brother!”
Mo Peisi, “…”
Xiong Dan, “…”
Shi Jie, “…”
Xiong Dan’s hand trembled as he pointed at Mo Peisi, his face full of disbelief. “He’s Xiong Er’s cub?”
Mo Peisi was equally shocked. He had no idea his mother had family, as she had never mentioned it to him.
The old beastman, brimming with excitement, began to speak, “You should call him—”
“Call me uncle!” Xiong Dan interrupted. “Your mother insisted on leaving with your father, even cutting ties with the tribe. Just call me uncle.” Despite his words, the way Xiong Dan looked at Mo Peisi was full of affection, his eyes even glistening with tears.
This deeply moved Mo Peisi. It seemed this uncle truly cared about his mother.
Xiong Dan turned away to discreetly wipe his eyes before introducing the others. “This here is Shi Jie, chief of the Rock Tribe.”
Mo Peisi and the other beastmen exchanged greetings with Shi Jie. Then Xiong Dan stepped forward, grabbed Mo Peisi’s hand, and said, “Let your tribe members rest here. Let’s head to the cave to talk.”
He then glanced at the old beastman. “You’re coming along too, old man.”
Mo Peisi exchanged a look with the old beastman, who nodded. The two followed the chiefs into the cave.
The cave was much cooler than the tents during the warm season. Inside, the four beastmen sat on beast hide mats. Xiong Dan looked at Mo Peisi and asked, “You’ve come this time for the Grand Trade Gathering, haven’t you?”
Mo Peisi nodded. What had been a tentative plan in his mind solidified the moment he learned Xiong Dan was his mother’s brother. “Yes. My father sent me to persuade you to support the Sera Tribe during the Grand Trade Gathering and help us become the First Trading Tribe.”
The old beastman, clearly anxious, tugged at Mo Peisi’s arm. You foolish cub! How could you just say it outright like that?
But Mo Peisi patted the old beastman’s hand reassuringly. “Uncle, this is something I’ve already thought through.”
