Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 340
Xiu Yan gently dried Ji Nuan’s hair and asked softly, “Did I pull your hair?”
Ji Nuan smiled sweetly. “No, it feels nice, hehe.”
After drying her hair, Xiu Yan took a piece of beast hide and wrapped her little head in it, saying it was to prevent her from catching a cold. Thus, Ji Nuan could only sit wrapped in her “headscarf,” holding a large ceramic bowl as she ate the spicy stir-fried clucking beast meat with purple fruit rice.
Neither of them bothered to clean the dishes after eating. Instead, they lazily returned to the room and fell asleep. This sleep was particularly sweet and restful.
The next morning, Ji Nuan’s craving for corn drove her to fight off her drowsiness and climb out of bed. Looking around, she noticed that the little fatty who had snuggled next to her before bed was already gone. Could he have gone hunting?
After washing up, she went into the kitchen and saw wisps of steam rising from the stove. Lifting the lid, she found a large ceramic bowl inside the steamer. It was filled with hot and fragrant sweet potato porridge.
“This must have been made by brother Xiu Yan, hehe,” Ji Nuan thought with satisfaction.
She sat at the kitchen table and quickly polished off the porridge. Only then did she head to the backyard to check on the corn seedlings she had brought back. The little seedlings were crowded together in a small pit, looking weak and droopy.
Rolling up her sleeves, Ji Nuan grabbed a stone spade that Ying Da had specially crafted and began slowly tilling the soil.
“Ji Nuan cub? Are you there?” Ge Xing’s voice came from the yard. Ji Nuan quickly set down the stone tool and went to the front yard.
“Uncle Ge Xing, I’m here. Is there something you need?” she asked curiously.
Ge Xing pointed to the meat at his feet. “Xiu Yan went out with the beastmen to find trees again. From now on, I’ll bring your daily food to you.” He looked at her cautiously.
Ji Nuan puffed up like an angry pufferfish. So Xiu Yan had gotten up early to avoid taking her along. What a cunning beast.
“Don’t worry, uncle. I won’t go with them this time. I haven’t even planted my food yet. I need to take good care of my little seedlings,” Ji Nuan reassured him.
Ge Xing visibly relaxed. “By the way, uncle, I heard Qi Mo and the others say that the pangolin beastmen in the tribe can help with tilling the soil. Could I ask them to help me with the backyard?”
“There’s no need to bother them! Leave it to us!” a soft voice piped up from the yard entrance.
Ji Nuan peeked out and exclaimed in delight, “Yaoyao?”
Tu Yaoyao hopped into the yard and grabbed Ji Nuan’s arm. “My father heard you’re experimenting with new food, so he sent me and two brothers over to help. We rabbit beastmen are experts at tilling soil!”
Ji Nuan held her hand excitedly. “That’s wonderful! I was just worried about this.”
Ge Xing stroked his little mustache and smiled. “Looks like the problem is solved. I’ll leave now. Let me know if you need anything.”
Suddenly remembering the beastman Xiu Yan had brought back, Ji Nuan asked, “Uncle, how’s the mole beastman doing?”
Ge Xing chuckled. “Grandmother has been collecting a lot of herbs lately. She’s using him to test medicines.”
Ji Nuan gave a silent thumbs-up. Amazing, grandmother!
