Ji Nuan placed the large woven basket on the ground and carefully took out three clean porcelain bowls. She then gently peeled back the large leaves covering the basket, revealing a massive hive inside.

“What is this? Can we eat it?” Qi Mo asked, shivering at the sight of the hive full of tiny holes.

Ji Nuan chuckled. “This is a hive from the buzzing insects. Inside is something delicious, sweet water.”

As she spoke, she used a stone knife to cut three large chunks from the hive and placed them into the porcelain bowls. A rich, dark honey-like liquid flowed out, looking incredibly appetizing.

Ji Nuan handed a bowl to each of the three female beastmen. “Try it.”

The three hesitated, exchanging wary glances. Could this insect’s nest really be edible? What if they accidentally ate a bug?

Seeing their hesitation, Ji Nuan sighed and pulled out three pairs of chopsticks from a nearby box. “Use these to taste a little first.”

Relieved, the three took the chopsticks and carefully dipped them into the liquid. Tentatively, they brought it to their mouths.

The three exclaimed in unison, their eyes lighting up.

“It’s so sweet! This buzzing insect sweet water is amazing,” Xiao Pipi declared, clutching her bowl protectively and grinning ear to ear.

Ge Ye licked the chopsticks again, savoring the flavor. “My cub will definitely love this sweet water.”

Ji Nuan smiled warmly. “Alright, I’ll leave the bathing area ready for you. The hot water is already prepared. Take a bath and rest well.”

Ji Nuan nodded gratefully. “Thank you. Tomorrow, I plan to experiment with planting a new type of food. If you’re free, come and help!”

“Of course, we’ll be there!” the three female beastmen assured her before leaving.

After they departed, Xiu Yan went to take a quick shower. Beastmen weren’t fond of leisurely soaking, but if Ji Nuan were to help him scrub his back, that might be a different story. He chuckled to himself at the thought.

While Ji Nuan soaked in the warm bath, Xiu Yan left to fetch two clucking beasts, busily preparing something in the kitchen by the time she emerged.

The warm water enveloped her, and Ji Nuan let out a contented sigh. “Nothing beats a hot bath.” After days of travel, the fatigue seemed to melt away.

Once the water began to cool, she scrubbed herself thoroughly, dried off, and put on her beast hide clothing. Carefully tidying up the bathing area, she stepped out, lured by the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen.

Peeking in, she saw Xiu Yan, his tall figure bustling around with a light sheen of sweat on his forehead from the kitchen’s heat. “What are you cooking?” she asked.

Noticing her damp hair, Xiu Yan frowned and said, “Go back inside. Your hair isn’t dry yet.” His brows furrowed in concern.

Ji Nuan grinned sheepishly. “Hehe.”

Xiu Yan handed her a wooden spatula. “Keep an eye on the stir-fried clucking beast meat for me.” Then he walked out, leaving Ji Nuan to tend to the dish.

As the fragrant scent rose from the pan, Ji Nuan’s stomach growled. Just as she stirred the meat, she felt a presence behind her. Before she could turn, something soft and warm covered her head—a piece of freshly cleaned beast hide.
