Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 308
Xiong Dan shook his head and said, “How many tribes do you think can survive the great beast tide?”
Shi Jie responded, “At most, no more than ten.”
Xiong Dan continued, “You and I both know these unclaimed lands will eventually be divided between our two tribes. Even if new tribes migrate here later, they’ll only become our subordinate tribes and receive small portions of land. So, the land we gave to the Watson Tribe today isn’t too much at all. Ge Xing isn’t stupid. If he wasn’t satisfied with the territory we divided today, do you think he couldn’t find a way to get what he wants from us?”
Shi Jie frowned. “You mean… he might inform those super-tribes about the two major tribes missing in the Ainilu Forest?”
Xiong Dan chuckled. “That possibility can’t be ruled out.”
Shi Jie sighed. “I just hope we can bring back more resources this year. If our two tribes could awaken an evolved beastman…”
As he spoke, his chest trembled slightly with excitement.
Beside him, a hint of hope flashed in Xiong Dan’s eyes. He patted Shi Jie’s shoulder. “Let’s head back and prepare goods for the Grand Trade Gathering. If we want to secure the remaining two-tenths of resources, we’ll need to bring more items to trade.”
“Uncle, I never would’ve thought that just by roasting some meat, you’d secure such a large piece of territory for the tribe,” Ying Da said, his face full of admiration as he looked at Ge Xing.
Basking in the cubs’ worshipful gazes and listening to their compliments, Ge Xing suddenly felt the heavy basket on his back become weightless, as though he could float into the air at any moment.
Lifting his chin proudly, he spoke with a haughty tone, “Well, of course! Do you know who I am? I’m your chief! You think someone without skills could become chief?”
The young beastmen exchanged glances. “Didn’t you become chief through a random draw?”
Ge Xing’s golden fur bristled as he was struck in his sore spot. He let out a loud, indignant roar. “Who’s spreading such blunt truths? I became chief through my strength! Who’s badmouthing me in front of you cubs?”
Ying Da and the other beastmen shrank back. “Don’t be angry. We overheard Auntie Nai Ma talking about it while protecting the females during a gathering.”
Ge Xing’s confident stride faltered. His four legs gave way, and he slid face-first across the ground for a short distance. Thankfully, his thick-skinned face saved him from any disfigurement.
The previously triumphant golden lion now trudged gloomily back to the tribe, his inner sorrow nearly forming a river. His beloved female had exposed his embarrassing truth in front of others.
Ge Xing felt deeply wounded in his soul and yearned for comfort and reassurance.
“Uncle, was it worth risking so much and losing so many flying beastmen to come to this mountain forest?” a haughty female voice echoed through the forest.
A deep male voice replied reassuringly, “Mo Na, if we can win over the major tribes in the Ainilu Forest this time, the beast god fruit will go to your brother. Once your brother becomes an evolved beastman, what will the Monte Tribe matter? Among the tribes in the Lamu Mountain Range, none will dare offend us. You’ll have your pick of any male you desire, and your brother will bring them to you.”
