Ji Nuan sat calmly on his arm. She had noticed that Xiu Yan always preferred carrying her this way. Could it be that this position is more effortless for him? she wondered.

Seeing this, Xiu Yan sighed softly and raised his free hand, pressing her head gently against his shoulder.

Ji Nuan froze for a moment, then leaned into his embrace, inhaling the cool, clean scent from his neck. Her earlier nervousness and fear quickly melted away.

“Feeling better?” A low, soothing voice spoke near her ear.

Ji Nuan sat up straight and nodded, her eyes sparkling. “Much better. Hehe!”

Xiu Yan chuckled and ruffled her slightly messy hair. Before she could protest, he quickly changed the subject. “Look up.”

“Huh?” Ji Nuan looked at him curiously, then followed his gaze upward.

“What is this!” she exclaimed as the breathtaking sight before her unraveled. The stars in the sky seemed so close, as if they were within reach. It truly felt like she could pluck them from the heavens.

Her hand reached out, but it grasped only empty air. Even so, Ji Nuan’s heart felt full to the brim.

The view above was utterly stunning. The two of them hovered quietly in the sky, savoring the beauty for a long time. Eventually, a cool night breeze made Ji Nuan shiver slightly.

Xiu Yan held her closer and asked softly, “Are you feeling cold?”

Ji Nuan looked at him, nodded, and said, “A little. Let’s go down.”

Xiu Yan nodded and gently flapped his wings, slowly descending to the ground.
