Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 260
Looking at the small, timid creatures, Ji Nuan felt as though she could already see the success of her grand plan for farming.
Following the group of beastmen, she walked to the newly constructed pens. The beastmen carefully separated the baby clucking beasts and quack beasts into two different enclosures. In this unfamiliar environment, without their mother beasts around, the little creatures huddled together in fear, trembling slightly.
Both the beastmen and the females were curiously leaning against the pen walls, watching the fluffy little creatures with fascination.
Qi Mo rested her head on Ji Nuan’s shoulder and sighed. “These little ones are so cute. I don’t think I’ll be able to eat them in the future.”
Ji Nuan chuckled. “They won’t be so cute when they grow up. Haven’t you eaten plenty of clucking beasts before?”
Qi Mo laughed. “Well, I’ll think about it when they grow up. For now, I can’t bear the thought.”
Meanwhile, Ge Ye and Xiao Pipi were leaning against the clucking beast pen, practically drooling.
Ge Ye looked at the baby clucking beasts and said to Xiao Pipi, “Pipi, let me tell you, Ji Nuan’s clucking beast dishes are absolutely delicious. A whole clucking beast leg, when you bite into it and pull the bone out, comes clean—it’s so good!”
As she spoke, she swallowed hard, and the ever-gullible Xiao Pipi followed suit, swallowing mouthfuls of saliva.
“And the clucking beast soup!” Ge Ye continued, her voice filled with longing. “Golden yellow clucking beast soup, so fragrant! When you drink it, it’s warm and comforting. I can finish an entire pot of soup by myself.”
Xiao Pipi tugged on Ge Ye’s arm. “Sister Ge Ye, when will you ask Ji Nuan to make some clucking beast meat and soup? I want to eat it too.” She glanced over at Qi Mo. “My sister wants to eat it too.”
Ge Ye pointed to the fluffy creatures in the pen. “Alright, once these little ones grow up, we’ll ask Ji Nuan to cook for us!”
Ji Nuan, who had just walked up to the clucking beast pen, sighed with exasperation. “Ge Ye, if we wait for these little ones to grow up, Xiao Pipi’s drool will flood the entire tribe.”
Hearing this, Xiao Pipi quickly wiped her mouth with her arm and grinned sheepishly. “I just think your cooking must be amazing, Ah Nuan. All the beastmen in the tribe say so!”
Ji Nuan laughed at her and said, “If you’re that eager, there are clucking beasts already inside the tribe’s fenced area. Ask the beastmen to catch a few, and I’ll cook them for you tonight. If you want, I can even teach you how to cook them.”
Xiao Pipi’s eyes lit up, and she dashed off toward the housing area. “I’ll go find Bo Sen right now and ask him to catch some for me!”
Qi Mo, equally excited, said, “I’ll go too. Fu Yi is here today. I’ll ask him to catch some for us as well, and I want to learn how to cook them too.”
Ji Nuan entered the clucking beast pen and called out, “Ge Ye, bring some dry grass to make nests for these little ones. If it gets too cold at night, they might die.”
Hearing this, Ge Ye immediately rounded up a few beastmen and went to the dry grass storage area. They returned with large bundles of dry grass. “I brought extra so we can make nests for the quack beasts too. We can’t play favorites!”
Ji Nuan took some of the dry grass and pointed to the quack beast pen. “Then you go make a nest for the quack beasts.”
As the females and beastmen gradually dispersed, only Ge Ye and Ji Nuan remained standing by the pens. Watching the little creatures chirping inside, Ge Ye’s heart filled with hope for their future life.
