Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 255
Ji Nuan pondered for a moment. Something that looks like a cloud?
She didn’t bother to check the size the beastman was demonstrating since the size of plants in this world differed greatly from those back in China.
Following the beastman, she gradually approached the area where the green mud was piled. A group of curious beastmen had already gathered in a circle around it. When the outermost beastmen saw Ji Nuan approaching, they quickly stepped aside and called out loudly, “Ji Nuan is here! Move aside, why are you all still crowding here? Be careful, or Xiu Yan will beat you up!”
The crowd of beastmen instantly parted like the Red Sea, leaving a wide passage.
Ji Nuan was speechless. So they weren’t making way so I could see the plant better—they’re just afraid of getting beaten up by Xiu Yan?
As Ji Nuan walked into the center of the group, she saw three beastmen holding what looked like “cotton” bundles in their arms.
Her eyes lit up. This stuff is cotton!
Except for its larger size, it looked exactly like the cotton she remembered!
She hurried forward and reached out to touch it, but just as her fingers were about to make contact, a slender hand stopped her.
Ji Nuan rolled her eyes. She didn’t need to guess to know whose hand it was. In the Watson Tribe, no one else besides Xiu Yan would dare to grab her hand like that.
Turning her head, she saw the stern beastman with a furrowed brow staring at her. Who else could it be but Xiu Yan?
His cold and handsome face made Ji Nuan’s heart skip a beat. She carefully asked, “What’s the matter? Who made you so upset? Why the long face?”
Xiu Yan frowned and gave her hand a slight tug to pull her upright. “Touching this stuff is really uncomfortable. Don’t touch it!”
Ah, so he was worried about me!
Ji Nuan laughed and replied, “I know. I already asked the beastmen to bring water. I’ll wash my hands after touching it. It’ll be fine.”
But Xiu Yan’s brows didn’t relax. “I’ll pick it up and show it to you. You don’t need to touch it. It makes you itch so badly you’ll want to scratch yourself raw. Don’t touch it.”
Ji Nuan chuckled. “If I don’t touch it, I won’t be able to figure out what it is or what it can be used for. I just need to see it up close, okay?”
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Xiu Yan finally and reluctantly stepped aside. “Fine, but be careful! Just grab a tiny bit, no more. It’ll make you itch a lot.”
His expression was so serious, like an old scholar lecturing her.
Ji Nuan nodded obediently, nearly swearing to the heavens. “Don’t worry. I’ll only grab a little.”
Finally, Xiu Yan, still worried, let Ji Nuan step forward.
Ji Nuan approached the pile of “cotton,” pinched a small tuft, and rubbed it between her fingers. Her eyes grew brighter. This really is cotton!
Why is cotton appearing now, though?
Could it be that cotton in this world matures at this time of year?
She placed the cotton back on the pile and turned around, only to find her pale, soft hand grabbed and dunked into a basin of water by a pair of large hands. “Wash quickly! Does it itch?”
Ji Nuan was a bit confused. “I haven’t even felt itchy yet, and you’ve already put my hand in water.”
The beastmen around them were surprised. “We only touched it a little, and it made us itch so badly we couldn’t stand it!”
All the beastmen who had suffered from the cotton nodded with lingering fear, casting wary glances at the soft pile on the ground.
Suddenly, a few chubby cubs darted out from beneath the beastmen’s feet and dove headfirst into the cotton pile.
