Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 250
“You’re the beastman sent by Xiong Dan to find our Chief Ge Xing?” Ji Nuan’s soft voice made Ying Da instinctively lower his volume, afraid of startling her.
The single beastman Ying Da blushed fiercely. “Y-yes, I’ll head back today.”
Ji Nuan nodded and repeated the message Ge Xing had given her. “When you return, tell Chief Xiong Dan that the Watson Tribe is doing well. We haven’t been attacked by wild beasts, and our food supplies are plentiful. Please thank him for sending someone to check on us during such dangerous times.”
Ying Da’s jaw dropped. “You mean… this place is the Watson Tribe?”
Ji Nuan smiled and nodded cheerfully. “Yes, this is the Watson Tribe. The older beastman you saw last night is our chief, Ge Xing.”
Ying Da looked utterly bewildered. This tribe is way too complicated for me. I need to get back to the countryside—no, back to the Rock Tribe.
Nearby, Ge Xing, who had been sneakily listening in, scrunched up his face in displeasure. His wrinkled expression deepened as he glared at Ji Nuan. Older beastman? Is that how you see me? Are you serious?
Ji Nuan patted Ying Da’s bony shoulder, the sharpness of it surprising her slightly. She turned and called out to Xiao Pipi, who was bustling around with the others. “Xiao Pipi, serve a few bowls of food from the pot for this beastman to eat.”
Without hesitation, Xiao Pipi picked up a ceramic bowl bigger than her face and carefully scooped out three large servings of purple fruit rice and stir-fried meat.
Ying Da, salivating heavily but embarrassed, tried to decline. “There’s no need, really. In times like these, food must be scarce. I can eat when I get back.”
Despite his words, his green, hungry eyes remained glued to the steaming bowls of food. His gaze refused to shift even a fraction. It’s not that I’m weak-willed—my eyes just won’t cooperate!
Ji Nuan chuckled at his contradictory actions, gently pushing him toward the food. “Go ahead and eat. You need your strength to fly. If you’re too hungry to move and end up in the jaws of a wild beast, what will your tribe do? You’re their only eagle beastman!”
Finally, Ying Da’s hunger overcame his reasoning. With an awkward smile stretching across his gaunt face, he stammered, “Thank you… I’ll eat then.”
He grabbed a bowl and began scooping purple fruit rice and stir-fried meat into his mouth. As the savory flavors filled his senses, Ying Da’s eyes lit up instantly. Without realizing it, he sped up his eating, devouring the food.
Xiao Pipi elbowed Qi Mo playfully, grinning as she whispered, “Look at him—this beastman must have been starving!”
Qi Mo shot her a glare. “Keep your voice down. Beastmen have sharp hearing!”
Xiao Pipi stuck out her tongue, casting a sly glance at Ying Da before giggling mischievously.
Ying Da’s ears twitched at the hushed whispers but didn’t mind. Any little female who fed him was a good little female.
From a short distance away, Ge Xing watched the scene and fumed, his beard practically bristling. This eagle brat! He’s obviously here to freeload off the Watson Tribe. And that Xiong Dan—what a lousy beast! Pretending to care about me and the tribe, but really sending someone to eat us out of house and home.
Completely unaware of Ge Xing’s internal complaints, Ying Da finished all three bowls of purple fruit rice and stir-fried meat. Wiping his mouth, he stood up sheepishly. “Excuse me, where’s the water? I’ll wash these bowls.”
Xiao Pipi quickly took the bowls from him with a cheeky grin. “Leave them. I’ll wash everything later.”
