Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 247
The midday sun was unusually harsh. This year’s warm season seemed especially intense, with each day growing hotter than the last.
Ying Da shifted into his beast form, circling the forest edges to observe the movements of the beast tide. After completing his reconnaissance, he turned toward the plains, flying in the direction Xiong Dan had mentioned.
The grass on the plains had turned green, but the area, which should have been teeming with small prey by now, was eerily quiet. Only the sound of a gentle breeze broke the silence. There wasn’t a single wild beast in sight.
This unsettling scene filled Ying Da with the urge to turn back to his tribe. If the Watson Tribe really exists and its members are still alive, there’s no way this area would be completely devoid of wild beasts, he thought. Those cursed predators wouldn’t leave behind even the smallest morsel of food.
Focused on his exploration, Ying Da didn’t notice the tall, cold-looking beastman silently following him, wings gliding effortlessly through the air.
Ying Da’s casual investigation came to an abrupt halt when he spotted something massive sprawled across the plains, resembling a mountain range stretching around half the plain. He nearly fell from the sky in shock.
“Beast God above! What in the world is that? Could it be an even more terrifying beast than the wild ones?” Ying Da muttered to himself.
No wonder the area was devoid of predators—this terrifying “beast” had scared them all away.
Aside from this enormous and intimidating “giant beast,” Ying Da found no signs of other beastmen or tribal settlements.
Stepping back cautiously, Ying Da concluded that the unfortunate Watson Tribe must have been devoured by this “giant beast.” Better keep my distance, he thought. I wouldn’t want to bring this monster back to our camp.
As he prepared to leave, pain suddenly shot through his neck. Darkness engulfed him, and he lost consciousness.
Xiu Yan grabbed Ying Da by the leg, casually hoisting him upside down before taking off toward the Watson Tribe.
Followed this guy all the way here. Time to bring him back for questioning.
He lingered for a while longer, eventually spotting three eagle beastmen struggling to carry two massive wild beast carcasses as they flew toward the tribe. Their labored breaths were audible even from a distance.
Xiu Yan glanced back at them, unimpressed. “You’re too weak. Without hunting, you’ve all gone soft. You need to train harder.” With that, he flapped his wings and soared ahead.
The three eagle beastmen exchanged helpless looks before shooting disgruntled glances at Xiu Yan, who carried Ying Da with ease and seemed perfectly relaxed.
Of course it’s easy for him—he’s carrying a skinny beastman!
Looking down at the hefty, plump wild beasts they were hauling, the three beastmen silently lamented, This thing weighs a ton!
When the four returned to the Watson Tribe, they were greeted warmly by the tribespeople. The three eagle beastmen basked in the admiring gazes of the females, their earlier grievances forgotten.
Inside, they felt triumphant.
Ignoring the three basking in female adoration, Xiu Yan carried Ying Da straight to Ge Xing’s tent. Without ceremony, he dropped the unconscious eagle beastman onto the ground outside and clapped his hands, shouting, “Chief, I caught a spy outside the tribe!”
“Mmfh? What spy?” Moments later, Ge Xing emerged from the tent, his cheeks puffed out from the dried fruit stuffed in his mouth. He looked at Xiu Yan with curiosity.
Xiu Yan’s mouth twitched as he regarded Ge Xing. “I’m starting to think you’re the one eating all the tribe’s food.”
