Xiu Yan’s expression was serious as he reported, “Chief, Ji Nuan and I encountered the beast tide in the forest. Ji Nuan has already returned to the tribe. I came ahead to warn everyone to close the gates and to check if there are any tribe members still outside.”

Ge Xing’s face paled, and he didn’t waste time responding to Xiu Yan. He immediately turned and shouted toward the wall, “The beast tide is here! Close the gates!”

The beastmen sprang into action. The massive, reinforced gates began creaking upward under their combined effort. With a loud “bang,” the gates shut completely, and the tribespeople collectively sighed in relief.

Turning back to Xiu Yan, Ge Xing said, “No one went out today. With the beast tide looming, we’ve had no hunting these past days. Everyone’s been helping to build houses, so…”

“Chief! There are beastmen running toward the tribe!” a loud shout came from the wall.

Xiu Yan’s face twisted with confusion as he looked at Ge Xing. “Didn’t you say no one went outside?”

Ge Xing froze, inwardly seething. Who keeps embarrassing the tribe? Whoever it is, I’ll have them fed to the beasts for five minutes!

“Chief! It looks like it’s some beastmen from the Green Mountain Tribe!” the beastman on the wall called out again.

Ge Xing straightened up proudly. “See? They’re not from our tribe. I told you, no one from our tribe went out—”

“But there are some of our beastmen running behind them, including Ge Tai!” The beastman’s words cut Ge Xing off mid-sentence. His face darkened as he glared at the wall. “Can’t you say everything at once? Are you stupid?”

The beastman on the wall pouted. “Ge Tai and the others were at the back~”

Ge Xing turned away haughtily. I refuse to listen to your excuses.

Xiu Yan spread his wings and flew up to the wall in an instant. “Chief, call up the eagle beastmen from the tribe. We’re going to help them!”

Without waiting for a reply, Xiu Yan shot out beyond the wall, flying toward the beast tide.

Above the fleeing beastmen, Xiu Yan swooped down, grabbing two beastmen—each carrying a female and a cub—one in each hand. He shouted loudly, “Two more, grab onto my legs!”

The nearby beastmen didn’t hesitate. They quickly transformed into beastman form, wrapping one arm around their female and cub, and clinging tightly to Xiu Yan’s legs with the other.

Once everyone was ready, Xiu Yan took off, his wings beating powerfully as he sped toward the tribe. Along the way, they met other eagle beastmen heading out to assist in the rescue.

After placing the beastmen from Green Mountain safely on the wall, Xiu Yan flapped his wings again and headed back toward the beast tide. The other eagle beastmen also carried the remaining females and cubs from the Green Mountain Tribe to safety.

The beast tide moved quickly, and despite their efforts, a few beastmen were still left outside the wall when the rescue was almost complete.

Among them were the elder shaman from the Green Mountain Tribe and Sa Miu’er.

Ji Nuan directed the beastmen to throw down thick ropes of vines. “Climb up using the vines.”

“Shaman, you go up first! We can hold out for a bit longer!” Sa Miu’er, disheveled and battered, looked at the old beastman beside him.

The elder shaman shook his head. “You go first. I’m an ape beast. I can climb much faster than you.”

The other beastmen frowned. “But you—”

The elder shaman’s expression turned stern as he barked, “Go up when I tell you to! Stop arguing and climb!”

Gritting their teeth, the beastmen grabbed the vines and began climbing toward the wall.

By this time, the beast tide was almost upon them.

The elder shaman turned back toward the horde. “Hurry, all of you, climb up!”
