Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 226
Bo Sen gave Na Wei a meaningful look, one so cold it sent a shiver down Na Wei’s spine. What’s going on? I stole Xiao Pipi’s food, not Bo Sen’s. Why is he looking at me like that? He shuddered involuntarily, trembling under the weight of Bo Sen’s glare.
Elsewhere, Qi Mo sat on the back of a tiger beastman, holding a fluffy little cub. She stroked the soft fur of the cub, her expression relaxed and content despite the soreness in her bottom from the journey.
Ever since accepting Qi Mo’s confession, Fu Yi felt increasingly exasperated. As he endured her small hands kneading his body, he couldn’t help but wonder, Qi Mo, do you see me as a beastman or just a pet?
The beastmen, brimming with energy, continued to press forward. The pitch-black night posed no threat to them, and they ran swiftly and surely as if on flat ground.
The chilly evening wind whipped past, causing the females to wrap their hides and grass mats tightly around themselves. Even so, a faint chill seeped through.
Meanwhile, the cubs, sprawled out in their backpacks, drooled as they slept. Occasionally, they smacked their lips as if dreaming of delicious food.
Suddenly, a piercing cry broke the stillness of the night. “Heavens! The Beast God is angry!”
The migration stopped abruptly as everyone turned toward the source of the voice. An elderly female was kneeling on the cold ground, tears streaming down her face as she let out hoarse cries. Before her lay a shattered porcelain jar and a few flickering embers glowing faintly in the dark.
Somewhere in the group, a voice murmured, “The fire seed… it’s out.”
“The fire seed… it’s out.”
“Beast God, the fire seed is gone! What do we do now?”
A wave of panic rippled through the group as anxious murmurs spread.
Chief Ge Xing and Ji Nuan rushed over from the front of the group. Hearing the tribe members’ worried discussions, Ji Nuan’s expression grew serious. The fire seed itself wasn’t the real issue—the immediate priority was to calm everyone down and prevent this from disrupting the migration.
She quickly jumped off Xiu Yan’s back and ran to Grandmother Hong’s side, gently helping the elderly female to her feet. “Grandmother Hong, I’m so sorry. This is all my fault for being late.”
Ji Nuan’s voice carried deep guilt, leaving the surrounding tribe members puzzled. Grandmother Hong, her eyes swollen from crying, looked at Ji Nuan in confusion.
Ji Nuan explained, “Grandmother Po Ni received a revelation from the Beast God just now. He said He would temporarily reclaim the fire seed but will bestow it upon us again once we reach our new territory. I didn’t have time to tell you before the Beast God acted.”
Grandmother Hong’s eyes lit up with hope. She grabbed Ji Nuan’s arm with her rough, weathered hand, her expression filled with anticipation. “Ji Nuan, is it true? Did the Beast God really send such a revelation?”
Ji Nuan nodded firmly. “It’s true.”
Relief swept through Grandmother Hong and the tribe members. Reassured, they resumed their preparations and continued their journey.
Later, when Ji Nuan recounted the event to Grandmother Po Ni, the elder shaman only gave her a knowing smile. “You are a future shaman. Sometimes, you too may receive revelations from the Beast God.”
The next day at noon, the Watson Tribe finally arrived at their new territory.
Standing on the vast and boundless plain, the beastmen gazed around in wonder. But behind their amazement, unease began to creep in.
Can we really hunt enough prey on this plain to feed the entire tribe? Are there even any beasts here?
Ji Nuan, sitting atop Xiu Yan’s back, surveyed the expanse below. Her heart was pounding with excitement.
