Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 213
Ji Nuan let out a dry laugh, suppressing the amusement bubbling in her chest. “It’s a great name, really. Easy to say and catchy, too. Memorable!”
Quickly changing the subject, she asked, “What are your plans next? Will you stay in our tribe or return to your own?”
Xiao Pipi turned to Qi Mo. “I’ll follow my sister. If she goes back, I’ll go back. I want to stay with her.”
Qi Mo’s gaze softened, and she reached out to gently ruffle Xiao Pipi’s head.
“Ah Nuan, uncle has asked for us,” Xiu Yan’s voice called from outside.
Ji Nuan set aside the hides she was working with, slipped on her outerwear, and headed for the door. She glanced back at the sisters as she left. “Qi Qi, you and Xiao Pipi stay here. Xiao Pipi must be tired after such a long day. Boil some water for her to bathe, and give her a clean set of clothes.”
Qi Mo nodded, touched by Ji Nuan’s thoughtfulness, and watched her leave.
As they walked, Xiu Yan explained the situation. “When we went hunting, we stumbled upon a group of Hyena Beastmen attacking Di Feng and his group. Bo Sen and his companions were with them. Di Feng says that Man Li led the Hyena Tribe here to attack us, and there are many of them.”
Ji Nuan’s dislike for Man Li surged to a new level. I should have dealt with her last time to prevent this from happening. However, the tribe’s leniency toward females had forced them to let her go. But this time…
A cold glint flashed in Ji Nuan’s eyes. This time, I won’t allow her to endanger the tribe again.
Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan arrived at Chief Ge Xing’s house alongside the shaman.
“I believe everyone knows the situation,” Ge Xing began. “Now, I’ll assign tasks. Ji Nuan and the shaman will focus on treating the injured.” He glanced at them, and both nodded solemnly.
“Xiu Yan, Ge Tai, Ya Li, and Pei De will each lead a team of beastmen for the main battle. Di Feng and Lei Er will be responsible for protecting the females, cubs, and elders. Lei Yun will manage the gate, ensuring it opens and closes to support our people. Understood?”
The beastmen all nodded in agreement.
Ji Nuan sighed. Their supply of fang grass Powder was running low, and she knew it needed to be reserved for critical moments.
The next morning, the Hyena Tribe launched their attack earlier than expected, likely due to food shortages and being discovered the day before. Ji Nuan awoke to the hurried footsteps of beastmen outside.
She groggily sat up, peeking through the cracks of the beast hide curtain. The sky was still dark, and dawn hadn’t yet broken.
Resigned, she got dressed. Why can’t they just stay in their caves during the cold season? No, they have to stir up trouble, disrupting everyone’s sleep. Man Li and the Hyena Tribe are truly the most hated beasts.
“Ji Nuan, if we capture Man Li this time, what do you think we should do?” the shaman asked as they sat together, waiting for news from the battle outside.
Ji Nuan placed the dried fruit she was holding onto the table and replied coldly, “Kill her.”
The shaman frowned disapprovingly. “Man Li is still a female. We could—”
Ji Nuan interrupted sharply, her voice rising with emotion. “You mean keep her in the tribe and force her to bear cubs for the unmated males, don’t you?”
The shaman pressed her lips together, remaining silent. But Ji Nuan could see from her expression that she had guessed correctly.
