Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 210
A large hand grabbed Xiao Pipi just in time, pulling her back onto the branch. “Hey, no need to get so scared just because I said hello,” the beastman teased.
In her heart, Xiao Pipi cursed the beastman beside her a thousand times, but she forced a smile onto her face. “No, no, I was just startled by the sudden noise.”
Lei Er smirked at the little female, clearly amused. “Stay put up here and don’t fall down by accident.”
With that, he leapt off the branch. Before Xiao Pipi could process what she saw, Lei Er was already diving into the battle below.
It was then that Xiao Pipi noticed a massive silver wolf moving with incredible speed and agility among the fighting beasts. Every swipe of its claws rendered a Hyena Beastman unable to rise again.
Xiao Pipi’s eyes sparkled as she watched the silver wolf. So powerful! So cool!
With the addition of Xiu Yan and Lei Er, two beasts with exceptional combat abilities, the Hyena Beastmen began to falter. Their numbers dwindled to less than half of Bo Sen’s group’s strength.
The Hyena leader, realizing his side was losing, let out a strange, guttural howl before turning and fleeing into the forest.
The Hyena Beastmen’s provocation ended with a battlefield littered with their dead. Di Feng, Bo Sen, and the rest of their tribes slumped to the ground, exhausted. A few beastmen sat in silence, dejected by the losses.
Bo Sen climbed up the tree to bring Xiao Pipi down, carrying her on his back. Once she was safely on the ground, he approached Xiu Yan and said solemnly, “Thank you for your help. If it weren’t for you, we’d have been food for the Hyenas by now.”
Xiu Yan nodded curtly, accepting the thanks. “Why are you here again?”
Bo Sen blinked. Did I hear a hint of disdain in his tone?
Scratching his head awkwardly, he replied, “I came to find the Tumang Tribe. Last time we… uh…” Xiu Yan’s sharp glare made him abruptly change his words. “A little female in our tribe mentioned that your tribe has medicine to treat worm diseases, so we wanted to trade for some.”
Seeing Bo Sen’s rare moment of timidity, Xiao Pipi couldn’t help but feel delighted, grinning to herself.
Xiu Yan nodded. “Then come back with us.”
“Bo Sen, Na Wei is injured,” one of Bo Sen’s tribesmen called out from behind. With a nod to Xiu Yan, Bo Sen quickly made his way to Na Wei.
“How bad is it?” he asked, his heart sinking at the sight of Na Wei’s pale face.
The beast who had fetched him spoke with a choked voice. “Na Wei’s hind leg is broken. He might never hunt again. A few others also have broken bones…”
Hearing this, Bo Sen’s heart grew heavy. The injured beasts all had mates and cubs depending on them. In their current state, they would likely be abandoned by their females once they returned to the tribe.
“What’s going on? Why does the atmosphere feel so grim?” Lei Er asked casually as he strolled over and patted Bo Sen’s shoulder.
Bo Sen glanced at him and said, “Some of our beasts have broken bones and won’t be able to hunt anymore.”
Lei Er crouched to examine the injuries. The wounds were clearly inflicted by the Hyena Beastmen, with jagged tears revealing stark white bone. “Don’t worry about it,” he said. “Di Feng already explained your situation. We’re grateful you came to warn us.”
He added reassuringly, “Once we’re back at the tribe, Ji Nuan can treat them. Broken bones aren’t a problem for her—she’s never failed to heal one.”
