Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 209
“A tiger beast, trying to escape? Don’t you think you’re underestimating us Hyena Beastmen?” The leader of the Hyena Beastmen, with dark brown fur and a jagged scar slashing across his face, sneered as he paced lazily back and forth. His gaze gleamed with a sinister light as he looked at Di Feng and the others. “You must be the beasts from the Watson Tribe that Man Li mentioned. I didn’t think we’d meet so soon.”
Di Feng’s expression darkened. He cursed Man Li in his heart for leading these vicious Hyena Beastmen to the back mountain, where females and cubs were evacuating. She must want the tribe to be destroyed.
He silently swore that if he survived this, he would not spare her.
Xiao Pipi, although she had never met the infamous Man Li, felt a chill run through her as though her soul had been pierced by the sheer malice of this “legendary” female.
“Roar!” A sudden beastly roar shattered the tense standoff.
Di Feng turned his head sharply, only to see one of Bo Sen’s companions already bleeding from his forepaw while fending off a sneaky Hyena Beastman. These shameless creatures resorted to an ambush!
Xiao Pipi felt a cold chill on the back of her neck. The attacking Hyena Beastman had aimed for her, but the beast behind her had intercepted it just in time. Her heart pounded wildly, and she felt as though her beast soul was about to leave her body.
Bo Sen’s eyes blazed with fury. He let out a low, guttural growl as his snow leopard form leapt with fluid precision. His powerful claws pinned the Hyena Beastman to the snowy ground, and with a swift motion, he bit through the enemy’s neck.
His movements were so fast that by the time the other Hyena Beastmen realized what had happened, the would-be attacker was already dead, its limbs twitching lifelessly.
The Hyena leader erupted in rage, letting out a shrill and grating howl before charging forward. The battle began in earnest.
After killing the Hyena Beastman, Bo Sen returned to Xiao Pipi’s side and crouched down. She, trembling and weak-kneed, climbed onto his back and clung tightly to his neck.
Bo Sen took a few graceful strides, then dug his claws into a tree trunk. With a few swift motions, he climbed to the top of a tall tree and placed Xiao Pipi on a sturdy branch. Letting out a few growls, he jumped back down to rejoin the fight.
Despite their courage, Di Feng and his group were outnumbered. The Hyena Beastmen’s superior numbers allowed them to launch repeated ambushes, leaving Di Feng’s group feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.
Bo Sen, locked in combat with the Hyena leader, used the thick snow as cover, making the enemy suffer several injuries.
“Damned snow leopard! Come out and face me! I’ll rip you to pieces and eat you alive!” The Hyena leader’s face was covered in blood, a deep claw mark from Bo Sen forming a perfect “X” across his features.
Despite dealing significant damage to the enemy, Bo Sen knew the situation was dire. They were simply outnumbered.
Perched on the tree branch, Xiao Pipi watched the battle below. She felt a surge of satisfaction seeing the ugly Hyena leader wounded and roaring in rage, but she wasn’t foolish. She could see how grim the situation was, which only made her more anxious.
“Hey, little female, what are you doing up here?” A voice suddenly drawled from beside her, oozing arrogance and mischief.
Startled, Xiao Pipi jerked in surprise, almost falling from the tree.
