Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 204
Xiao Pipi puffed up her cheeks in frustration, her dirty little face now resembling a pouting goldfish, making her appear even more comical.
The laughter of the surrounding beastmen only grew louder at her indignation, filling the cave with roars of amusement. Even Bo Sen, typically stern, had golden eyes brimming with mirth.
Xiao Pipi felt wronged. Why does this always happen to me? (Her heart silently cried, “Life is hard, but I won’t say it out loud.”)
Seeing the little female’s watery eyes on the verge of spilling over, Bo Sen finally managed to recover some semblance of sympathy, which he had carelessly tossed aside earlier. Coughing into his fist, he announced, “Alright, alright, that’s enough. A male shouldn’t bully a little female!”
The moment he finished speaking, he found himself the target of disdainful gazes from all directions. (Look who’s talking! You’re covered in fur, and you’re calling others monsters!)
Even Xiao Pipi cast him a disapproving glance, silently judging this seemingly composed yet undeniably foolish beastman.
Bo Sen’s face turned slightly red as he tried to maintain a serious demeanor. “We’ll set out once the snow lightens up. You can come with us,” he said solemnly.
“Really?! That’s great! Thank you so much; you’re such a kind beast!” Xiao Pipi jumped up three feet in joy, thrilled that this stranger turned out to have a kind heart.
(What a huge misunderstanding…)
Bo Sen raised a hand to interrupt Xiao Pipi’s endless flattery. “However—”
Xiao Pipi’s expression fell, and she pouted. “There’s a ‘however’?” she asked pitifully.
“Of course!” Bo Sen replied. “If you can’t keep up with our pace or slow us down, we’ll have to leave you behind. Understood?”
Xiao Pipi pouted further, muttering under her breath, “Alright, I get it. But I’m actually really capable! While I might not be as good at hunting as you all, I’m the best at running away in my tribe.”
As she spoke, she began boasting about her talents.
Bo Sen glanced at the scruffy little figure, amused. “Oh? Then I’ll look forward to seeing your amazing escape skills.”
Xiao Pipi thought to herself, Why does it feel like this old-fashioned beastman is mocking me? Is it just my imagination?
The fierce blizzard raged on for two full days before finally easing up. Bo Sen led the group of beastmen, with Xiao Pipi tagging along, as they resumed their journey to find the Tumang Tribe.
“Bo Sen, do you think we’ll—” Before Na Wei could finish his sentence, Bo Sen silenced him with a sharp look.
“Everyone, stay hidden. There’s a group of beastmen approaching,” Bo Sen ordered quietly.
Ahead on the snowy plains, a group of beastmen was trudging through the snow. Their conversation carried through the cold wind into the ears of Bo Sen and the others.
“How much longer until we reach the Watson Tribe? We’re running out of food,” a male voice asked impatiently, his tone strained as though suppressing his temper.
Moments later, a female voice replied, “At most another day. By then, there will be an abundance of food offered to you.”
“Good. I’ll hold out until then.”
A burst of laughter followed.
As their voices faded into the distance, the beastmen group disappeared across the snowy plains, leaving behind a trail of footprints marking their path.
“Why would beastmen be out here in the bitter cold of the cold season, instead of staying in their caves?” Na Wei asked, puzzled.
Xiao Pipi glared toward the direction of the departing beastmen, her face filled with disgust. “Those are beastmen from the Hyena Tribe. They’re probably off to raid another tribe’s food supplies.”
The group fell silent, their focus now on the fading tracks in the snow.
