Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 203
“Has he woken up yet, Sui Meng?” asked Bo Sen, furrowing his brows as he glanced at the beastman lying in the corner of the cave.
Chewing on a piece of dried meat, Na Wei replied disdainfully, “Who cares where this beast came from? If you ask me, Bo Sen, we should just leave him here to fend for himself. We’re looking for the Tumang Tribe, not wasting time on some unknown beast.”
Although the surrounding beastmen stayed silent, their expressions clearly echoed Na Wei’s sentiment. Everyone had braved the bitter cold and snow for the chief’s mission, eager to finish it and return with food for their females and cubs. No one wanted to delay for the sake of a stranger.
“Fine, we’ll wait for the snow to let up before heading out. As for this beast, we can—” Before Bo Sen could finish, a weak groan sounded from the corner.
A small figure slowly sat up, her lips trembling from the cold. Xiao Pipi pouted in grievance, her big round eyes brimming with tears. She was utterly distraught, unsure where her elder sister had gone. She had searched and searched, but still couldn’t find her.
Where did big sister go? Xiao Pipi thought miserably, trying to stop the tears threatening to spill.
“Which tribe are you from?” The crisp voice of a beastman cut through the silence of the cave. Xiao Pipi flinched, lifting her small head cautiously to peek in the direction of the voice. Her large, watery eyes took in the sight of warm beast hide boots and strong, muscular legs.
Before she could observe further, a large, slightly cool hand tilted her chin upward. “Are you a little female?” Bo Sen’s voice was tinged with surprise.
Gasps of astonishment echoed throughout the cave.
“Beast God, how could a little female be out here alone in such dreadful weather?”
“Maybe it’s just a weak-looking male!” one beastman suggested.
At those words, Xiao Pipi noticed the aura of the tall beastman before her turn icy. Hurriedly clutching the bundle of dried grass around her for warmth, she stood up and waved her tiny hands in panic. “I’m not a male! I’m a female! I came out to look for my sister. She’s been gone from the tribe for a long time, and I miss her!”
As she spoke, tears began to roll down her cheeks, followed by sobs and wails. Bo Sen felt his headache intensify as he stared at the sobbing, snot-covered little female before him. His determination to remain single only grew stronger.
He removed his beast hide cloak and handed it to the filthy little female, frowning. “We’re on an important mission for our tribe and can’t take you back. Wear this and hurry home.”
Turning away, he walked back to join his companions.
Wrapped in the warm cloak, still carrying Bo Sen’s lingering body heat, Xiao Pipi sighed in relief. Sniffling, she shuffled closer to Bo Sen, her small voice muffled by her recent tears. “Thank you for saving me. My name is Xiao Pipi. Can I come with you? I promise I won’t slow you down. I can run really fast!”
“Pfft~”
“Snrk~”
“Xiao Pipi?! Hahaha!”
As soon as her words landed, laughter erupted in the cave.
