Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 194
Lu Shi grabbed the weak and barely conscious Sa Duo’er, his chilling smile sending shivers down the spines of the beastmen present. “It’s already too late, you know~”
He turned to Ge Xing, the chief, who was standing by the kang bed. “I’d appreciate it if you could order your beastmen to open the gates and let me leave. Otherwise…” His hand shifted slightly on Sa Duo’er’s fragile neck. “If my grip happens to slip, this little neck of hers won’t survive.”
Ge Xing frowned deeply but remained motionless. The beastmen from both the Watson Tribe and Tumang Tribe stood calmly, showing no intention of acting rashly.
Lu Shi clicked his tongue and smirked. “Even though she’s about to die, Duo’er can still be with me. Continuing as my mate doesn’t sound too bad.”
Sa Ka’er’s eyes burned with rage. Seeing his beloved young female, swaying limply like a dead prey in the hands of her former mate, his killing intent surged to its peak. “Lu Shi, let her go immediately, or I’ll kill you right now!”
Lu Shi cast him a disdainful glance, his mocking smile growing sharper. “You? Ha~”
His arrogance was palpable, completely disregarding the beastman he had once respectfully called “Father.”
The shaman’s voice slowly drifted from the back of the room. “Let him go. But before he leaves, he must place Duo’er outside the gates. And…”
She gestured to the porcelain bowl sitting on the kang table and handed it over. “You must leave some of your blood in this bowl before you go.”
Ji Nuan took the bowl and carefully placed it on the edge of the kang bed before quickly retreating behind Xiu Yan.
Lu Shi’s grip on Sa Duo’er didn’t relax for even a moment. With a flick of his tiger tail, he dragged the bowl closer to himself. He unwrapped the thick beast hide covering his arm, revealing a sinister and grotesque pattern etched into his skin, along with a gaping wound.
Grinning, Lu Shi began squeezing his wound, causing the dark, foul-smelling blood to drip steadily into the bowl. A stench filled the room, making everyone nauseous.
Ji Nuan’s small body swayed, feeling dizzy from the overpowering odor. Xiu Yan quickly pulled her into his arms. The familiar clean scent of him helped clear her foggy mind. She buried her face in his chest, trembling slightly at the potency of the Fallen Beast’s blood.
The shaman carefully sealed the bowl of Lu Shi’s blood. Only then did Ge Xing, leading the gathered beastmen, follow Lu Shi cautiously to the tribe gates.
The heavy gates groaned as they opened with a loud creak, followed by a final thud as they settled on the ground. The beastmen watched as Lu Shi carried Sa Duo’er outside. Once she was placed on the ground beyond the gates, he disappeared into the endless snowfields.
Xiu Yan hovered above the gates, his wings beating lightly as he watched Lu Shi leave. He confirmed with a commanding voice, “Come out, he’s gone now.”
To Sa Ka’er and the others, his cool voice sounded like a blessing.
They rushed to retrieve Sa Duo’er, hastily bringing her back to the shaman. After forcing her to drink Lu Shi’s blood, the group finally sat down, exhausted, to process the day’s events.
“Where’s Ji Nuan?” Bei Ni asked as he looked around, noticing that both she and Xiu Yan were absent.
Ge Xing sighed, worry etched on his face. “She inhaled some of the poison from Lu Shi’s blood and felt dizzy and unwell. Xiu Yan took her back to rest.”
Bei Ni nodded, suspecting nothing.
“Did we really just let Lu Shi go like that? He’s a Fallen Beast!” one of the beastmen exclaimed.
