Leisurely Life in the Beast World - Chapter 193
Lu Shi’s hesitant and evasive manner had fully piqued the beastmen’s curiosity. An impatient Sa Ka’er grabbed his arm and growled, “What did you discover? Say it already! Your mate is lying here on the verge of death, and you’re still hesitating?”
Lu Shi’s eyes reddened as he responded, “I discovered a mink beastman. He was secretly following me, and when I was hunting, he tried to kill me. But I managed to injure him, and he escaped. I waited for days at the tribe’s gate, but he never showed up again.”
“Which tribe is this beastman from?” Bei Ni asked.
Lu Shi cautiously glanced at Ge Xing and the other beastmen from Watson, then shut his eyes tightly, biting out the words: “He’s from the Watson Tribe. I’ve seen him in their hunting team.”
As soon as Lu Shi spoke, Bei Ni let out a derisive laugh. “What proof do you have that this beastman is from the Watson Tribe? You claim you saw him, but he’s not here now. How are we supposed to believe you?”
Lu Shi, seemingly at his wit’s end, grabbed his hair in frustration and shouted, “I swear I saw him! He’s part of the Watson Tribe’s hunting team. If you don’t believe me, check for yourself to see if anyone is missing!”
A soft, mocking chuckle interrupted Lu Shi’s dramatic performance. Ji Nuan leisurely walked over to stand beside Xiu Yan. “If this beastman were to appear now, could you recognize him?”
Lu Shi froze for a barely perceptible moment before nodding resolutely. “Yes. I even injured one of his legs.”
Ji Nuan glanced at Xiu Yan, who gave Lu Shi a pitying look. Without a word, Xiu Yan reached into his clothing pocket and pulled out a small furball.
As Fu Yi appeared, Ji Nuan clearly saw Lu Shi’s pupils contract violently. The terror in his eyes, buried deep but undeniable, betrayed him.
Ji Nuan’s lips curved into a smirk. “Then you must recognize him.”
Lu Shi nodded slowly. “Yes, that’s him—the beastman who followed me in the forest and tried to kill me.”
Still in Xiu Yan’s hand, Fu Yi rolled his eyes dramatically. Then, under the watchful gaze of everyone present, he transformed into his beastman form. His youthful face bore a mocking smile. “Why I followed you, you don’t know? Lu Shi, you are the real Fallen Beast.”
Without hesitation, Fu Yi stripped off the beast hide covering his upper body. His clean arms bore nothing but crisscrossing scars—no sign of any Fallen Beast markings. “You accuse me of being a Fallen Beast. I say you are one. Dare to take off your clothes and prove me wrong?”
Lu Shi faltered, his eyes flickering with panic. His steps edged stealthily toward a specific direction. “My arm is injured, wrapped with medicinal herbs. I can’t take off the beast hide right now.”
“Heh~ A lie like that won’t fool anyone. Lu Shi, didn’t you and your father plot to abduct me and bring me to the large tribe in the Nia Forest?” Ji Nuan’s voice was sharp and precise, cutting through the tense silence of the room.
The beastmen heard her words clearly. Immediately, they instinctively stepped back, creating a wide empty space around Lu Shi.
Realizing his identity could no longer be concealed, Lu Shi dropped all pretense. His previously honest smile twisted into something sinister and icy. His once-upright face now bristled with cruelty and killing intent. “Tsk tsk tsk~ So you managed to bring him back after all. What a nuisance.”
“Be careful, he’s going for the young female!” Qi Mo’s soft voice called out from nearby. The beastmen instantly turned their attention to Lu Shi, who was moving toward Ji Nuan.
