“That Lu Te… We should’ve killed him last time,” Ge Xing, the chief, said grimly, slamming his hand against the kang bed with a dark expression.

“Eek eek!” The small furball in Xiu Yan’s hide pocket squirmed for a long time before finally climbing out. His urgent cries immediately drew everyone’s attention in the room.

Ji Nuan reached out to take Fu Yi and gently placed him on the kang table. “What’s wrong, Fu Yi?”

Under the watchful eyes of the gathered beastmen, the small furball shifted into his larger form. Lying flat on the kang table, he said, “That Lu Shi is a Fallen Beast. He wants to make Ji Nuan his only mate.”

Hearing the term “Fallen Beast,” Ji Nuan felt a heavy weight pressing on her heart, as though a great burden was suffocating her. These stories were meant to instill fear and obedience.

Their blood was highly toxic, and the more sins they committed, the more potent the poison became.

Ji Nuan could hardly believe that such a terrifying entity had infiltrated the Watson Tribe. Realizing this Fallen Beast was targeting her, she felt as if she were standing in the icy wilderness wearing only thin clothes, her whole body shivering.

Her cold hand was suddenly enveloped by a large, warm palm. The heat pulled her out of her fear, and Xiu Yan’s calm, magnetic voice sounded beside her. “Don’t worry. I won’t let him harm you. Trust me, okay?”

The final “okay” felt like a small hook, gently scratching at Ji Nuan’s heart, making it flutter.

A faint smile appeared on her lips as she tilted her head, her round cat-like eyes gazing at the beastman beside her. Before she realized it, she blurted out something that shocked everyone in the room.

“Xiu Yan, let’s become mates!”

Her soft voice carried the weight of thunder in Xiu Yan’s ears and heart.

The usually composed and slightly narrowed wolf eyes widened slightly, and the smile on his lips froze.

“Really?” he asked, swallowing nervously. The heat of his large palm increased, damp with fine beads of sweat.

Ji Nuan, equally shocked by her bold declaration, felt the wetness of his hand silently revealing the towering beastman’s nervousness. She puffed out her small chest, her cheeks glowing red as she said, “Really. Once I come of age, we’ll become mates.”

Though life was full of worries and challenges, Ji Nuan’s promise to become mates with Xiu Yan left the beastmen in the room both shocked and exhilarated.

Even Qi Mo grinned with her mouth full of food, her gaze toward Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan brimming with joy and blessings.

The typically serious Fu Yi also smiled faintly, his usually mature face lighting up with happiness.

The room became a scene of celebration and delight.

“Shaman, we’ve brought Duo’er. Can we come in?” Lu Shi’s voice suddenly broke the cheerful atmosphere, reminding everyone of the threat outside. The gathered beastmen quickly suppressed their joy, preparing themselves to face the terrifying Fallen Beast.

“Come in,” the shaman replied. She signaled for Xiu Yan to place the now small Fu Yi back into his pocket before calmly inviting the beastmen outside to enter.
